Started building a cabin this weekend. 18x20 with a 16x10 front porch.
Will be a weekends project that will take months to complete.
Here are some pics of the floor system.

Anyone have any suggestions, let me know.
Also anyone know where to get 2x6 t/g pine that would be great.
Anyone have any suggestions, let me know.
I'd go with walls next....
Kidding, looks like a great project on a nice piece of ground.

I have been dreaming of building a cabin like that. Is that something I can do without experience? Is there any books or guides that can show me how to get started? BTW if you don't mind saying, how much it costs approximately to build a cabin yourself?

Make sure you insulate the floor well. When we built ours it was recommended we could skip that. Big mistake on cold days when your toes are bone chilled.
Never go cheap on insulation it pays for itself. Also are you having electric in it? If so run the wires in some conduit to keep the critters off of the wires. Just some advice that I hear from others who have had issues

Thanks to all for the great advice. That's what I like about this site.:)
Estimate $5000 to get er under metal roof. After that not sure.:(
Will insulate the floor well (2x10 floor joist) and seal it up good, but mice always seem
to find a way in. Good advice on the conduit.
Will post more pics Sunday/Monday.

Make sure you sheet on the bottom side of the joists if you haven't already. Otherwise you'll have a nightmare of a mess when critters get into your insulation. Also make sure your 2x4 non load bearing headers are nailed in good as it looks as though your jack studs go up past them rather than the header sitting on them.
Also if the material you used for the joist system is white wood, then make sure you put some good sealer on it, as it looks as though part of your deck is incorporated into that white wood. Maybe the treated wood color just isn't showing up, but it looks like untreated. Also make sure to bolt your 6x6 treated posts onto your box sill ends, if it is just nailed or screwed it can be apt to break down over time. Untreated metal fasteners will corrode inside of the treated lumber, thus causing failure. Make sure to attach them with galvanized fasteners or stainless steel fasteners.
Just some tips... Looks really nice.

Don't forget to cut some shooting lanes off the deck.

Looks very nice. That had to be one fun project.
What plans are you making for security? I hate hearing stories of cabins such as this one being broken into and such. That's one of my biggest fears of building one.
