On the noon broadcast of Paul Harvy today, he read a news story about a hunter shooting a Great Dane. The hunter clams the dog was chasing deer and he shot and killed it. I saw GOOD for the hunter. Ohio says chage the hunter with Animal Curelty!!!
WHAT!!!

I say charge the hunter.
A great dane isn't your run of the mill stray dog. They are pretty expensive and I'll bet it's owner is pretty PO'd over the whole deal. What the hunter should have done was called the game warden or sheriff so they could ticket the owner.
You shoot my dog (if I had one) and your gonna regret it.
Now.... If you know for a fact that the dog is wild and has no owner then I'm all for it, but honestly how often does that happen.

A coyote is the only thing that I would ever classify as a wild dog. A hunter should never shoot a dog in my opinion. I don't care if it's a great dane or a mut. Hunter's should shoot legal game species or a legal nuisance species. If a dog is a stray then it is the responsibility of the dog warden. Why do some people think they can just go out in the woods and shoot anything?

Anyone hear any more about this?
When I was stationed in Washington DC I had permission to hunt a small stretch of woods in Southern Maryland.
I swear 50% of the time I hunted the place I'd see a couple of the niegborhood dogs running around. One time I had this nice lil beagle follow me into the woods and sit down right under my stand.:(
A different woods had a pack of dogs that used to run deer all day. I think they may have been actual wild dogs cause they where pretty mangy looking.
It was tempting to shoot them, but I didn't.

This Idiot should be charged. Arbitrarily shooting dogs because they run deer.
My Field bred ESS is cute as a button, but after day in field looks like mangy wild dog too
Youd think anyone with half a brain would go out of there way to make sure they where truely wild dogs and cover there butt.
