I am shooting a Quad 400 right now. Currently I shoot 125gr broad-heads. The weight on my crossbow is 150lb. I was thinking of going down to 100gr broad-heads. The 125s shoot perfectly up to 20yrds but at 40yrds, they drop a bit more then I would like. I don't mind sacrificing some momentum as top speed for my crossbow is 345fps. I just want something that 1) remains effective, 2) a weight that is more readily available, and 3) shoots a bit straighter at 30-40yrds.
Would going down to 100gr be advisable or is that too little weight for my bow?
The only way to know for sure is to pick one out and shoot it and then compare the results. I don't take the 40 yard shots so the 125's work for me. But everyone is differant so give it a try and let us know what you find out. Good luck.

You should check into dial a range. i sight my bow in at twentey yards and it is one click for every ten yards up to fourty. it is part of the scope mount.

i shoot 100gr on a 20" bolt with my browning boss crossbow and i have no problems at all - at 40 to 50 yrds its deadly.

I shoot 100 grain thunderheads and I have no problems shooting out to 40 yards. I do not take those shots in the field but I do practice them and they hold a good pattern.

If your really curious then just get some 100 grain field tips and compare their trajectory to your 125 gr field tips...They are probably aren't gonna fly a whole lot flatter.
