Finally after about 6 weeks of fishing and coming home with absolutely nothing, the Channel Cat are biting SOMETHING lol. Fished a local reservoire in Galion last night through this morning and brought home 6 channel cat totalling approx. 25-30 lbs. (didnt get an exact weight). Largest was not quite 21" long. :D:D:D:D

What were you using for bait?

Over the last month we tossed just about everything at them with very few takers and not very big ones at that. We decided to use a Southern Ohio tactic and used some cut shad and it was like night and day. We started getting more hits and bigger fish. I know we have some good size channel cats up here but thats the only big cat we have in the waters around here :(. No matter that we only have channels I guess they like shad just as much as the flatheads and blues they have down south :D. Plus with the shad we have yet to catch those bait stealing yellowbellies. I hate those fish :D. There you go Steve thats the story :D. Oh I almost forgot to tell you about the big one that got away last night :D.

LOL. After the dog a few years ago and the deer I don't go to that reservoir anymore. I'm kind of scared of what els might be in there.

Lastnight we fished the same reservoir but a different spot but didn't find any good size fish this time. We did try some crawdads and the smaller cats seemed to like them alot better then the shad. We will try again later on in the week and see if we can find the big ones again and try the shad and crawdads and see what size cats we haul in :D.

the top one was redcloud's fish. Please note that the bottom one was kind of his fish too. You see, there was a moment that i was not attending my designated fishing spot, and my pole decided to take a swim. Redcloud rescued my pole from certain peril.....and as a bonus we landed the second fish! lol. Redcloud is quite the swimmer too! "actually he was reaching for my fishing pole and fell in :yikes:....what a trooper"

I don't mind taking one for the team every now and again :D. I have yet to loose a pole on my watch lol. I guess we are kind of even though since your 45 went for my little swimming lesson :yikes:. I was just wanting to field test it for you and make sure it would stand up to a little water and still work. Always looking out for your safety lol. Now That I am reading this I guess you still kind of owe me in the end since I saved your pole and field tested your firearm .

If you look at the rest of the fish all the fins are just fine. I have to honestly say that one came out of the water like that and we had nothing to do with it. I want the one that was kicking his butt down in the hole :bouncy:.

Went fishing "AGAIN" saturday night. FINALLY got my fish ohio channel cat!!!!
Measuring 26 and 3/4 inches in length, this was my 2nd fish of the night. Caught at 2:30 in the morning. Picture shows the fish next to my boot lol.
