Bucko..
I hunt Maine every year..i go up for a week..I try and track down those Giant bucks..Its the same in my area..About 2 or 3 deer per sq. mile..Some sq. miles of area dont inhabit deer at all..Its brutal country for tough hunters...Most weeks i may only see 2 or 3 deer..some weeks i dont see any.
Ill be up this year..Portage area..i go west from portage about 50 miles..Pitch a wall tent

You forgot to mention you like to sit in areas where you see no deer sign...sit for hours dark to dark waiting on a deer to pass... ;) :D

One of the guys that hunts with us in Ohio ,is building a place around portage ,not sure where but I will ask.
When we hunt maine there is no sitting unless it's for lunch,we run the log roads until we find a big track and take off after it.Sometime you win sometime you lose.pick it up and start it over again in the am.The winters the last 2 years has done a number on the herd,Bio's say 75% winter kill.BB

I hunted up there also from 2000-04. Usually see 3-5 deer per week but I saw the biggest whitetail I have ever seen in the woods up there. There is something about hunting the snow in the north country. Good bear hunting as well. One of these days i will go back.
