For those that aren't familiar with a rodeo you might refer to the riversmallies site for some reference. Basically, it's a bunch of great folks, camping, paddling, fishing and have a helluva time!
This event was hosted in Chillicothe by Ken Willis(Dirty Ed on that other site). We paddled and fished the local creeks in the area and there was a couple of smallies over 19"s caught. Also a lot of 14-15, 16 & 17"rs caught. My best for the weekend was a chunky 16.5" and maybe I'll get it posted when the pic is emailed to me. It was a great turnout, and a ton of fun. Oh man, all the good food........there were pork chops, brats, burgers and jumbalaya. The beverages were cold, the water was nice and the fishing was pretty good to. I didn't take a camera and didn't snap any photos of camp, but I'll add on a couple pics from my phone.
I covered about 17 miles of creeks in 2 days, caught several nice fish, truck broke down(hoping just an oil line), ate some great food and enjoyed camping with some great guys.
Most guys caught fish on spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and some soft plastics/tubes. I believe most fish were holding tight to cover just off the current breaks, and were relatively neutral. You had to hit em in the nose with your presentation. I know I didn't get a bite when I threw into riffles or at the back of tail outs where agressively feeding fish like to hang out.
