OTHER than black bear why would anyone from OHIO want to hunt anything in the deerless state of PA ??? I don't even reasonable think it's an option..with your long season, multiple tags, Sunday hunting and all the little perk type hunts you'd have to be crazy to even list my home state as an option for anything...

Maybe where you live the deer herd is still not there but where some of my friends live around the Butler and Mercer county areas, they are seeing and killing some real nice bucks. I go back for a weekend or two late October and sometimes for the gun season opener. Lots of turkeys in West PA too. ;)

I missed last year cause I was living in MD but the year before I hunted 2A and 2B. I also went once to Venango Co. and hunted the Allegheny NF but not many deer up in the mountains.

I have heard of "if it's not posted is public"; how does that work? I have only hunted in state lands and NF where land is posted as open for hunting but I would love to hunt other places closer to home and some big bucks:shhh:.

This actually is not true. Although you don't need written permission, you still must have permission from the landowner to hunt any private land, posted or unposted.

The rules and regulations book you get with your license each year will give you more detailed information.

I hunt in Greene County. I have been hunting there for over 30 years. I am not sure about other parts of PA but Greene county is full of deer. And the area I hunt has had antler restrictions for the last few years. And now the bucks are getting better every year. I have seen some real dandies last year and this year so far.

I live in WV but Greene County is just across the state line for me, and I live close to the state line. So it is just a short drive.

The quality of bucks is not what you guys have in SE Ohio. However there are considerably more deer. Hopefully this antler restriction will help. However IMO the biggest problem is that the small farmers are quitting in SW PA. Nice fields I hunted in years ago are forests now. They are letting the farmland go, and that can not be good for the deer. Tom.
