My bro called me today around 1:00 this afternoon and said he just found his 21st shed. He was working up near Plain City and spotted it at about 125 yards in a field that had already been planted in beans. The beans were already 6 inches tall but he said it actually stuckout pretty well. He said one small disk slit was all the damage it had. He's funny as hell, He said, "Do you know how hard it is to slow a wielding truck down from 60 MPH along a narrow road and pull over while keeping a horn in vision lock down mode". LOL:bouncy: I'll pass along the pic when he sends it to me. Keep them eyes peeled!

Great find for him. I wish I could have been able to get out to the woods more this spring. I haven't found anything but a deadhead this year. Last three weeks I haven't been able to get out since a semi decided to re-arrange the back of my truck. It is finally fixed and hope to get back out soon.

Found one tonight while brushhogging a food plot. Found it stuck in the front tractor tire:yikes:
The G-1 stuck in the cleat part of the tire so I was lucky and no flat. Must have dropped late because the wife and I were through that plot a couple times searching this winter.

You aren't kidding there Joe. JD is a shed hunting stud! I need to start following his footsteps to pick up some pointers.

I got a question for you shed hunters. If you find a shed with skull intact do you need to get a tag for it?I just stumled across a monster skull with antlers and brought it home.Do I need a tag or what?Ill post some pics of it later.I cant beleive I let him slip by me this year.I found it while I was scouting today.I hope hes got some offspring running around for me>

Yes you have to get a permit. I would notify the GW in your county and take pictures of where and how you found it. This is the only way you can have legal ownership of the horns, otherwise you can be fined and have the antlers taken away from you anyhow. JFYI, sheds are in no way or how, attached to the skull. I hope I was able to help. Post the pic's soon, I like big horns!!:bouncy:

I hope you have good luck getting the warden to come give you a tag.. Hell good luck even getting him on the phone or to return a call.. I hope it works out.

I asked the Pike warden about this as I love to shed hunt. He told me that he would not issue a tag unless he could tell how it was killed. So I said, I guess I will just have to take my chances getting caught by you because Im not leaving it in the woods. He said I guess, but if someone calls me and says Joe has a huge untagged rack and I come investigate then your hit. I have several untagged skulls Ive found over the years, nothing real big, biggest was a locked set that both would be in the 120"s. Been thinking of getting a drop plate, very similar to a drop piece, you know someone breaks in, you shoot but they don't have a weapon. A drop plate just leave it stuck to the dead deer, obviously it was hit by a car!:mischeif:

Its probably a setup. The game warden placed it in the woods with a tracking device in it to catch shed hunters taking skulls w/o permit. Better throw it in the river.

Hey KillaGorilla, that's a very nice heavy rack. The pic doesn't do it justice but I know that you have a dandy nice 8. Brows and mass and overall tine length put's that deer close to 150 as an 8 pointer.GROSS!:mischeif:

I was just talking to the farmer (Sept.11,2009) where we hunt in southern Ohio and he said and showed us a 12pt. shed he found this year. It was a VERY large 12. GREAT mass. He said he has seen the deer around his farm about 8 times in the last 2 weeks. Cant wait to get out there and try to get a shot at that big boy. He said he has about 7 nice bucks running around there. But I now know about that 12pt so I may have to pass on the other bucks. LOL He also wants us to try to take a doe each. Told him we would do our best. Got to keep the farmers happy.

12 point shed? Does that mean it has six points on the side he found, or 12? Put up some pics, and if you have time latitude and longitude also of this farm :mischeif:.
