Hello everyone,i was wanting to know if anyone was useing a 45 cal. this year for muzzleloader season.I just bought a new CVA Eclipse magnum yeasterday and would like to know any likes or dislikes you might have with the 45s.I have heard good and bad things about them i think most of the bad i've heard comes from the 1in20 twist on the T/C Encore rifle.I have a 1in28 twist and will be useing 150gr pyrodex pellets with a 180gr hornady hollowpoint sabot. Thanks in advance.Dave

I don't own one, but I am curious about what you heard about the Encore 45 cal. Good or bad? Accuracy?

Sorry vc1111 it took me so long to get back to you been out with the muzzleloader.I've heard alot of guys are having accouracy problems with the 1in20 twist,i've even heard TC is going to the 1in28 twist and doing away with the 1in20 but thats just hear say.
Since nobody seems to have a .45 yet i'll tell you about mine.I'm very pleased,it did a great job on a small racked 8-pointer i took this morning. He was about 35yds out standing broadside whan i took the shot and ran 30yds before going down.

I have a friend who does all his deer hunting with a 45 cailber flint lock, he has harvested 11 ohio deer with this gun.

HUNTERDP, Most of guys shooting any distance IMO are shooting alot less powder. IMO 150 is overkill. Some are having problems with bullets passing through not expanding.
