Really thinking about getting one for the family. Of course he will be trained for coon and squirrel but I would also like to train him for shed hunting and wounded deer tracking.
I haven't decided on a name yet but I would like to keep it related to hunting/archery. Any suggestions?

I've had Curs all my life they are the best breed out there in my opion my current dog is a BMC named Bell. She is my coon, phesant, cattle, and guard dog. She also keeps my wifes feet warm at night.
As for a name I'd go with Hoyt.
Good luck.

Hi! this is my first time here. My hubby is a traditional bowhunter. I saw your post discussing black mouth curs. My son rescued a female black mouth cur a couple of months ago. She had been chained up by her owners who moved away. She was just skin and bones, but we have fattened her up. the problem is that we don't have a fenced in yard and can't spend the time with her. We didn't know what she was originally, but has been identified by an expert as a black mouth cur.
We estimate her to be about a year old; she has been spayed. We would love to find someone who would give her the attention and training she deserves. She is very sweet and very smart, but we can't keep her.
Her name is Lela. I can send pictures if someone is interested. Please spread the word and find a home for this dog.
Thanks!
