That looks like a giant river redhorse! If that's what it is, it's the biggest one I have seen. :yikes:

How much do you think the shovelhead weighed? Awesome fish! :bouncy:

Yeah I'd say redhorse too.

That's a really cool variety of fish. I wouldn't mind catching that bass one bit!

The cat was jumping between 29lb 15 oz and 30 lb 2 oz on the digital scale so I called it 30 lb...I caught it on a 5 inch swim shad.

I'm a little bit of an idiot when it comes to fish identification. What kind of fish is this? Pretty cool looking fish for the Ohio River...

Its a Mirror Carp...Same species as a regular old common carp but with a irregular scale pattern.

I figured it was carpish in nature, but I have never seen anything with that vivid of colors in the river. Looks like it was a fun catch...

Hi all,
I live about 1/4 mile from Lake Erie, but would love to go after some big cats or other big fish in the Ohio river. Problem is I have no clue where to go.I'm east of Cleveland right along the lake. Any odeas or directions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

Jim,
Welcome to the site. As a suggestion, you might get more responses to your question if you begin a new thread. This one is from June, and some who have seen it might not go all the way down to your question, to see it. Wait a day or 2, though. I could be wrong.

Good fishing!
