It looks like I'm going to be short on dogs for a bit. My old dog is still recovering from a muscle pull that occured in early October and now Otto has just had major surgery to remove some plastic that he chewed and punctured his intestines. Spent last night sleeping on the floor with him as he recovered from surgery. Doctors say he should be "ok" as long as he doesn't get any infections on the internal stitches and will be a couple days before he can heat food again.
Geesh.....

Looks like Chiefs gonna get all the work his three legs can carry him for and maybe winnie will be alright by turkey day.

Don't know yet, they're still adding to the bill. :(

I'm looking forward to seeing him tomorrow to see how he's doing. They said he was improving today. He was pretty well out of it all night, had a morphine patch on him.

Otto came home today and all I can say is amazing! Baring internal complication the doc said he'd be back to hunting form the monady after Thanksgiving! It's amazing how fast they turn it around!! 2 weeks for intestine surgery and a month for losing a leg. WOW!

And even the fee was actually very reasonable!!

Scott,
It it muscle cramps in the legs? does it happen while hunting or after you get home?? Only when it's warm or all year??? I've never had that happen with mine but I can check with some of the guys in the club and see what I can find out.

it happens in the field about 15-20 min into the hunt, starts dragging his back leggs and lays down in apparent pain,(thats when i call him a wimp) after about 30 sec. hell get back up and run doing it every once in awile. i was thinking of giving him an asprin before we hunt. what do you think. this is my second gordon, the first one did this once in awile but not as often. after this happens he seems to lose intrest in hunting.

What do you feed him? It almost sounds like somethings lacking the vitamin/mineral dept. I'll see what I can find out.
