i'm contemplating what it would be like to shoot this beautiful giblet...does it shoot as good as it looks...he thought of everything ,everthing i've learned about building a bow,he incorporates much i've learned on making all wood bows...narrow the limbs from mid limbs to the nock ends...especially the last 6"...and here the limbs are more thick,longbowish...meaning the limbs are more less likely to flex sideways if you happen to pull the string off center as you draw back, meaning better limb stability than a thin wide limbed recurve does't have this...a reason the newer recurves are likely to get a limb twist if youre not careful...the limbs on this beauty are long for ease of drawing even on a stronger bow...the nock ends are very very small,my string had to be very thin here just to keep it from falling off while strung,a slight challenge making the string...the overlays are masterfully blended into the colorful scheme of the entire bow...i marvel at the way he fuses the three wood lams from the limbs into the risor scheme...walnut,hickory and a reddish wood...on the backside of the 3 wood lams is possibly a very thin hickory lam that makes sense for it being there because of its tension strength or stretchability as it was used as backing for this reason on backed all wood bows that kept them from breaking...then its backed buy a beautiful copper colored crossweave fiberglass that looks almost snakeskin like...and the grip area a red plastic much used in the era on all wooden bows but made to place the arrow right on your hand, where it should be for an instiktive shooter...the creamy almond fiberglass on the belly with a thicker lam of walnut next to it...and then another lam reddish in color thats less thicker then the walnut but thicker than the hickory(possibly another wood like maple)...just unbelievable...i believe this must be a custom bow maker...when i compare the rather chinzy bear statics of 50 thru 52...that were made somewhat like this...almost 20 yrs. later...i believe bear was still making all wood statics up to 48...or somewhere in there...maybe i'll put a pic up for comparison of the 2 bows...keeping in mind folberth made his about 20 yrs. earlier than bear...i can't say enough about this bow...and to think it was made in 1937 and he had pat.'s on recurve bows in 1933...and i keep thinking if this beauty shoots as good as it looks...
