Cavaliers coach Mike Brown is expected to be named NBA Coach of the Year today.

CLEVELAND -- The Cavaliers have called a 1:30 p.m. press conference at which it appears Mike Brown will be named NBA Coach of the Year. The league and team have refused to confirm the announcement but several sources have indicated Brown has won the honor.
If so, Brown would be just the second coach in team history to win the award after Bill Fitch in 1976. This season Brown led the Cavs to a franchise-record 66 wins, the first division title in 33 years, and the first No. 1 seed in franchise history. In February, Brown became the second coach in team history to coach in the the All-Star Game. He was also named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month three times.

He did it by creating a trust-first mantra that he showed by delegating some powers to his assistants and key veteran players. It was a risk that paid off in a massive way in the regular season.

The Cavs have a 1-0 series lead on the Detroit Pistons in their first round playoff series. Game 2 is tomorrow at 8 p.m. at The Q.

Let's keep this in perspective.

When you get LeBron in your 1st coaching assignment, it makes his job easier.

Some will say, he won it because of LeBron.

But you have to look deeper......a good coach, has to be able to bring his talent together, know their strengths and weaknesses, and be able to produce.

Not only that, the GREAT chemistry on this team is also due to Mike Brown.

He's able to pull the talent, PERSONALITIES and players together to play like they do, with the attitude they have....hats off to great coaching!
