what does morals have to do with mayapples?

A friend said to me that when the mayapples pop up then the mushrooms are also up. I went hunting mushrooms this weekend and the mayapples are up but no mushrooms except for the none edible ones. does anyone know if this is true?

I've heard the same thing from some of the old-timers, and it seems to hold pretty true. The morale's are up, I have 5 growing underneath the apple tree not 20 yards from the house. Just gotta keep lookin :D

looked today in mid jefferson county, may apples, most are just barely popping up, no morels in favorite spots. ground looks too bare yet. did not see any other type of shrooms growing. pouring rain. friend killed a jake that never gobbled but ran across a bare field to decoys. another week will do the trick.

Next Saturday should be a great time.. With all this rain and then temps around mid 80's Sweet lord they should be everywhere

I found 32 greys Friday morning on public ground in central OH; saw 3 other hunters in the same woods and they had 17, 12 & 10 all greys. The largest I found was just under 4 inches.

Fri, Sat & Sun of this coming week should be 3 of the best days of the 2009 season. The yellows will show themselves in #'s during this period as well.

It definitely wasn't a good day for shrooms :D. Found all kinds of Turk and deer sign. Also a bunch of dead things like 3 deer the goose a turtle. Everything but a stupid shroom :(. None the less it was all fun running around in the woods.

I got out for a couple hours on Saturday. Found 9 blacks in Ashland county.

Found a couple doz today while turkey hunting Jefferson Co. All around dead elm! Just finished half of them off sauteed in butter and onions an topped on a nice srip steak on the grill:bouncy:yuuuuumm!!
