I was out this morning. As I said in my area their arent too many birds but i was lucky enough to find one roosting. I set up on it and waited for it to fly down. Well it flew down to the other side of the river so I tried to cut it off. I snuck up the other side and when I looked over at my decoys there was a bird about 15 yards away. I couldn't tell him it was a hen or jake but it was still a rookie mistake. Either way I was happy to see something up here. Drover home and saw a flock of em in a field littered with jakes and toms and maybe just 1 or 2 hens. I'll be heading south next weekend. I might have blown my chance but it was still a good day.

i didn,t go out this morning but i have been out the last 3 mornings. got so many hens around here, the toms are hened up 20 feet after fly down. been seeing turks, but no shot as of yet. going back out in the morn, maybe ol tom will come out by himself, but i won't hold my breath. it will get a get better in a couple of weeks after some of the lone hens have been bred. good luck to you guys and i will keep you posted.

Has anybody been hitting it? I worked all weekend but finally got out this morning. Friends went down to coshocton for the weekend but didn't have any action at all. I'll be heading down friday for the weekend. I sat in the blind till after 9 this morning and only saw coons and a gopher. I tell ya in a wheat field a hundred yards out at sun up a coons body with that short stumpy tail looks a lot like a turkey. Is anyone else having luck or seeing anything? got any tips. I'm still new the turkey hunting and could use all the help i can get.

i have been hunting every day but 1 so far this season. too darn many hens, ya can't call a tom away from the hens, they are hened up as soon as they hit the ground. been hunting a big tom that i missed last year, at least i think it is the same bird. got a new plan for tomorrow, so maybe tomorrow is the day. good luck guys

nice to hear from ya Charlie. yes, his main beard was trying to split and he also had a 7" beard. i had been hunting a bird all season that prob weighs 28#'s, but he will not respond to a call. so this one came this morn and i could not pass on him.

you had better get your tag and get with the program Charlie. only got a week left, but i think it will be a good week. my offer still stands if you are interested, just let me know.

After NINE days and failed shot I kill one this morning. I have had good luck using a hammer to call them this is the 3 rd bird I killed after giving up hunting for the day and start working on equipment.

That's one thing I don't have in my back yard is turkey...got squirrels, rabbits, owls, woodchucks...all of them run when I use the hammer call  ;)

Congrats :D
