Wow I bet that was awesome to see. Keep at it man, it sounds like you're in a good area. You'll get one by this weekend.

Had a decent bird in late morning right behind my house! Jusy happened to walk out back around 11:00 and ralmost ran into him. He gobbled and I set my two decoys on a logging road and picked a great spot with some green foilage around me. Standing leaning between two cherry trees I was well hid. He came in struttin below the decoys and I had to purr softly to get his attention. He came up to the road and eyeballed the decoys but would close the distance I needed with my recurve! Finally he struted up in the woods to 15 yds and stayed right behind the biggest cheery tree in the woods:yikes:I actually drew on him a couple times but just could'nt geta good shot! He finally gave me an oppurtunity as he fanned away from me....I took my time and released just hitting a bit low and gettin nothig but feathers:eek: He ran across the road as I hurriedly nocked another arrow but just could'nt get a clear second shot so I let him walk off. I cut sharply to him and he defiantly gobbled back but would not return. But, tomorrow's another day;)I'm going out shortly to reconstruct a blind, set the decoys and hopefully roost roost him. I just can't figure why he would'nt strutt right down that logging road to the decoys:coco:Yep....tomorrows another day....TF

Anyone been out recently? I'm thinking about going next weekend to try and get number 2. This weather lately sure has been nice. I've seen quite a few birds out in the fields late mornings and afternoons around here.

I have hunted every day since season opened besides today. I worked 6 different birds on public land this weekend, and each and everyone of them got shot by another hunter before they worked in. After a weekend in the woods like that I think I need to rest some before I shoot someone lol.

Wow... that would be frustrating as hell. I don't blame you for wanting some time off.

Well I took Monday off from hunting, but I could not take it any longer so I had to get back out. I had the most memorable experience that I have ever had this morning as far as working a bird gos. It is a long story that i will not get into yet, but it was fun. He gobbled his head off for an hour and when I finally got him to work into range all I could see was his head and neck. Although I am 99.999999999% sure this was a big tom, I refuse to take a shot at a turkey unless I can positivley identify a beard. One more step and he would have been dead. As it turns out he must have saw my eyes blink or heard my heart pounding because he spooked and got the heck out of there. I am not going to give up.

Just wanted to remind everyone to put their bird in the official picture posting thread in order to be counted in the contest. Did you ever get you're picture loaded Turkeyfoot?? Anyone else still going out?

Wasn't able to get out for the last couple days, so upgrading wasn't an option. I think our team did pretty well overall though. I wonder when we'll see some results posted up.
