My 16 year old cousin went out saturday morning. Got out late, had some gobble back, but they were on the ground already. Gobbled going away, they could never close the distance..

I was thinkin we need a cool name, since everyone else has some. I was thinking maybee the Beard Blasters or Morning Murkers , or Lead Poisoning, or, haha, the Green mountain boys. What do you guys think? put up some suggestions of your own. I know, im having way to much fun with this :coolgleamA:

Sorry guys.. Beard Blasters is fine with me.. Took today off to hunt.. Birds did not play nice today. From not working off the roost, to working past my first setup location, after I had moved onto location b, to the wind knocking my decoys over every ten minutes, to finding out someone has been hunting out of my blind, and smoking in it while doing it.. :nono: Not a good day.. Think I am going to sleep in tommorrow morning, and give it a go sunday morning... Good luck this weekend guys!!

i know how that stuff goes...nothin worse than in bow season going to your stand on private land and having some dude with a 30-30 in your stand saying hes "woodchuck hunting". but good luck on your next hunt everyone im having a 4 day camp down in belmont county this weekend so lets see what i can do for us.

The only way I have been having luck is calling to the hens.. You gotta piss off the main hen, cut her off, get her all fired up.. She leads the toms in..

ill try that thursday morning if it will be clear first thing in the mornin. yesterday when the flock moved to the west side of the property we built a couple of killer blinds in 3 key locations. if we keep the blinds nice they should be good for yotes by the end of the summer. saw 2 of the 5 birds that day that were gobblin, they looked like 25 lbs. they were headin towards a hen down the ridgeline, and i couldn,t get my friend to call out he was afriad ta spook em (birds were only 60 or so yards out), and i didnt have my friction or mouth calls, more or less we were unprepared and late into the woods, my partner is new to all this and its hard to convince him to do something, im goin solo thursday, ill call myself im getting annoyed with his newly acquired knowledge of turkeys. he reads all these books but wont listen to what i tell him in the field. if he doesnt hear anything in an hour he wants to relocate:tsk: they always come back

Guernsey County bird, my first ever, he had 1" and 1 1/8" spurs, 10 inch beard, and was 20 pounds. We called him in from a very very long way off, was hotter than heck just before i shot him. theres nothing like hearing one double gobble at 35 yards. I let him have it at 30 yards, and then the euphoria of baggin my first bird set in.
