On opening day of the North Carolina turkey season a 76 year old turkey hunter was shot, on his own property. The GW states that he was checking out some reports of baiting in the area, but baiting was not clear in this case. :whistle:
It appears, in early reports, that the GW pushed his authority in an unnecessary situation. After ordering 76 year old Mr. Coffey to come down from his treestand a confrontation insued and the only shot fired was from the GW's service revolver. :16suspect1:
The State Bureau of Investigations is not releasing any information, due to the nature of the shooting.
This is very unfortunate, for both sides. :nono:
