Let's bag some birds...once we figure out a team name, I'd be glad for making an signature picture for us.

Can't wait, looks like a good team.

Name suggestions?

Have any of you guys been out yet? I filmed a kill on Saturday for the youth hunt, but can't hunt until weekends for myself. I will admit to you guys, I generally don't kill many birds, I volunteer to call and film a lot. Last year was the forst year for me killing 2 birds in the spring, so I am hopeful I can punch a tag, but no guarantees. This weekend is shaping up to be immaculate weather, so hopefully it is kind to us all.

Best of luck, fellas! Let's gut some giblets! :mischeif:

Heard/saw nothing Saturday morning, called in two different hens Sunday morning...in other words, not a great start! :irked:

...15 days until I can hunt. But the gobbler is still out on the farm, dad heard him Sunday morning nice and loud 250 yards away. Not sure if I'll be hunting that farm (I have a feeling my buddy is going to whack him first), but I've got two or three gobblers tucked away in a honey hole....oh man I can't wait. My roommate has enforced the 'no calling' rule when he's in the room....

Still no luck today guys. Had a tom spitting and drumming within 60 yards or so this morning but I never seen him. He never gobbled this morning. He had some hens with him and he didnt want to leave the real thing for me, I guess. Going to hunt hard all weekend. Good luck to the rest of you guys.

Here are some pics. Made contact with him off the roost at 6:00 and couldn't do anything with him. He would come within 100 yards and then slide away out the ridge I was on. At 7:30 decided to make a big move, and get in front of him. Took about an hour but finally made it back to the top out in front of him, he sounded off 2 or 3 times allowing me to stay in front. Got to the top of the ridge and bumped 2 hens, I cut on the mouth call as they putted and flew off. Boom he gobbled about 100 yards in front on the ridge road. Set out the b-moblle and purred softly. Gobbled again just out of sight, and then I seen the white head coming. He broke strutt and ran to the decoy and flogged it one time, and the rest was history. Suprised he came to deek, when I seen it was a jake i figured he would tuck tail and run. And I lied on the spur measurements their 3/8s of an inch. He weighed 16 pounds. Guess I couldnt read the tape yesterday when I measured. But the pics dont lie.

Congrats on the bird! We're finally on the board! :D

I got roped into working Saturday, and I can only hunt weekends. But, I talked my way to a day off Friday (tomorrow) so I can still get two days in this week.

Talked to my buddy yesterday. He hasn't been out at all, waiting for me to get home. That means the big gobbler is most likely out there, lonely, and horny. As long as the weather is nice, I should still be able to contribute.

I came awfully close yesterday, fellas. I think a lone hen saved a tom's life. I located a bird about 9AM, gobbling on his own...one problem, he was on property I couldn't hunt. Maybe it was dirty, maybe it wasn't, but I started working that bird, hoping he would come to me. He was a long ways off, maybe 500 yards, and after about 35-40 minutes, I am guessing he was inside 100 yards. Cutting me off, gobbling, double-gobbling...then I heard a hen start yelping near him. I got one more gobble out of him, then it was like God hit the mute button. I was set up about 40 yards on my side of where I could hunt, he met the hen about 100 yards out, just out of sight. Had he come another 30 yards or so and been in sight of my decoys, I think his butt was mine. I sat there silent for about half an hour, never heard him again, never saw him. :nono:

Had another close call Sunday morning, maybe I'll be able to seal the deal on the last weekend like I did last year. I'm getting closer every time out. :bouncy:
