Nimrod is Here!

you both now need to change your signatures from Team Dirt & Team 12 to Team #9. Not trying to be bossy by no means. It was just an observation.

I'm looking forward to the team hunting. Got your birds located?

Good Luck & Happy Trails to Team 9 !!!

I'll be hitting my land in Vinton county. I'm a little rusty on turkey hunting. It's been about 3-4 years since I seriously hunted them. I promise this team that I will give serious effort in killing a couple toms this spring! The birds are still there in Vc, just seem to be less of them as there were 12-15 years ago.

I'm glad the whole team has checked in and I also agree we seem to have a good team! Good Luck to all Team Gobble, Fly, Strut & Die! members!!!

Anybody get out today? I didn't as I don't like to hunt in monsoons. It rained pretty much all day today with heavy winds in the AM. I may get out tomorrow AM. Good luck to any of you guys that get out this week.

I didn't get out either. I'm out of town until Thursday with work but I'll be in the woods every morning when I get home until I connect. I spoke to a couple of my buddies and they both connected this morning. Sounds like the rain may have helped a little. I personally like hunting Turks in a little drizzle and have had good luck this way.

My 1st hunt is planned for Thursday morning. I'll hunt Thursday-Saturday, work a doubleshift Saturday night then hunt again Monday. I'll update what happens Saturday evening.

Good Luck!

I had three off the roost this morning gobbling but they never showed. I had a hen come in and she was silent until she reached the decoys then she went nuts! The birds don't seem to be talking much yet. I'll be on them again in the morning!

I hunted Thursday. Only heard gobbles from the roost then nothing. Friday heard zero gobbles. Had a pair of hens walk in within 15 yards then 45 minutes later one more hen. Friday night heard some fly up but no gobbling. Went back this morning and no response from owl calls so moved to an area about 100 yards away. Then heard 1 gobbler at original location. Set up and called but he headed another direction sounding off about every 5 minutes.

Nice bird Slayer. I haven't even been able to get out yet. That will be changing this week. Hopefully the rest of us can put birds down soon. Thanks to Slayer we have a heck of a start. Good luck this week if you get out guys. I'll check in later in the week with an update.

I havent been hunting anymore since fri, but I have been listening. Havent heard a turkey gobble on roost at my place since fri. Have any of you been out or heard anything?

They have been quiet. I have been out every morning for the past week and today was the most I have heard. I'm seeing Hens and Toms but it's still early. I heard 4 gobblers on roost today and I worked one for the better part of an hour. If it wasn't for the terrain he would have come in but he hung up. Every day out I have more action so I hope tomorrow is the day.

I'm not a team member, but in southern ohio(athens/meigs) I went out this morning and didnt hear a single thing. I usually always hear at least something, but today was flat out dead, not a single gobble. nothing. ??????????

Well guys I'm done. I hunted for a week straight and had plenty of chances at nice birds but it didn't work out. I'm busy with work the rest of the season so I won't be out. That sucks! So close but it didn't happen this year for me. Maybe I'll try for one this fall. Anyway, good luck to the rest of the team.

Hunted Monday & Tuesday. Seems there are only 2 toms to hunt in my woods.:nono: I know I might be rusty but I can't seem to get them interested in my calling. They will sound off to just about everything else that makes noise. I think I may be getting to close when setting up to call. Just wanted y'all to know I'm still trying!

Muzzy75 I hope you get a chance to get back out there once or twice again. It sounds like you have a good area to kill Mr. Tom!

Well guys, my problem has been like Muzzy's. I was able to get out for the first time on Sunday. Had 2 different birds Gobble to me one time each and that was it. I'm hoping work lets up a little next week to sneak out a few days. I'll also be out this weekend & will let you know what happens.

I hunted Monday & Tuesday. Sorry to say no birds killed. I did have a tom close Monday morning but would not crest the hillside. He would gobble to crows, geese but no hen yelps. He was moving away when I gobbled and he gobbled back. He then started back my way (getting louder) and would gobble each time I would gobble:coco:. I think most of the toms in my area are GAY :shhh:. Tuesday I was able to finally see a male turkey but the 1st was out of range and a couple twin jakes snuck in behind me and busted me before I could locate them. I did manage to drop a coyote at 6 a.m. Tuesday. More details under Starting out with a bang! in the Reloading/Varmin Hunting forum.

I haven't been able to get out at all this week. I had hoped to get out today but it didn't happen. I hurt my back helping my wife's parents move last weekend. I had hoped the chiropractor would get me back in shape to hunt this weekend but it sure wasn't happening this AM. I'd like to get out for the last day tomorrow but we'll have to see. This turkey season sure hasn't worked out very well for me. Between work & this back issue I have only been able to get out 4 times. If I get out tomorrow, maybe some luck will come my way so I can fill a tag.

Zero birds for myself this year. Sorry team. I hunted last Saturday with no birds seen or heard. I did encounter 2 other hunters on public land. Satuday evening I spotted 2 more coyotes. I think this is a big reason the Vinton county area is getting lower kills thru the years. As Buckslayer says! Good luck this deer season!!!!

Thank you
