The title says it all, I love this show. If I lived close to there, Id be dumb enough to want to do that job. But I would quit because it would kick my butt. Dead or alive....

When I lived in NJ I worked longline boats and winter gillnetting for monkfish, we had a guy come out who just came back from Red Crab season and we fished 60 miles out and winter on the North Atlantic can be brutal!. That guy packed his gear and didnt even come back for his check!!! He was sick as a dog the entire 24 hour trip and did nothing but bitch and moan!!! Alaskas is definatly tough but there are plenty of other places that rival it, they just dont get a tv show...

That's cool. How long were you out on the boat at a time?

Sad news. Just saw on yahoo that Captain Phil Harris of the Corneilia Marie, just died after suffering a stroke in late January.

That is sad that the Captain passed away. I remember when I was stationed at the Coast Guard Base in south Jersey and we would get a report that a scallop boat didn't made it back. We would go and search, sometimes with out a trace. More weird when you actually knew some of the crew.

Captain Phil Harris, 53, died of a stroke. He was on tough, hard nosed man.

That is sad. His boys will carry on the tradition.

Very sad. The show won't be the same without Phil. He was my wife's favorite Captain. She like Jonathon Hillstrand also. Johnathon has come to the Painesville Party in the Park & had a booth the last 2 years. A great guy & as down to earth person as you will ever meet. If you go by the booth & it's not to busy he'll stand there & chat with you all day long. My Brother in Law gave him a hat this year that had his "Just shut up & fish" saying on it & it almost brought him to tears.
