What causes those type of tips? I found something similar this year and have never seen anything like it.

I have always assumed they were caused by a buck jabbing his horn in to something while he was in the soft(velvet) horn stage. That is also when I assume the weevil's make they're holes in the antler as well. Thats just my opinion, it's just an educated guess, I could be wrong! Does anybody else have any ideas?

I don't know what causes this, but around 12-15 years ago almost every buck we shot on our farm had acorns like that, as the years went by we seen less and less, now we don't see them at all, it would be nice to know what causes it, possibly a lack of a certain mineral or something in their diet? just a thought
