I've been showing my son how to do a few things the past few years. Today we worked on fleshing coon hides. I saved one of my buddies dogged coon to let him work on. I thought he did pretty good for his first one! Just thought a few of you might appreciate this. I love teaching him, and he picks up on things fast. Through the summer, we are going to work on trap location. Basically setting on sign.

As a father, it is a Good Feeling to pass on the ways of traping, hunting or fishing to your child or children. Take lots of pictures. :D:D

That's great man. Does he run his own line too or does he just skin and flesh for you? you know you got to include him in all the fun :bouncy:

very very nice! my son is 12 and has kinda started to show some signs of maybe being somewhat interested. he ran a couple snares on my farm for 3 days last year. he did catch one 3x. his momma was real proud:rolleyes: of him when he told her he skinned it himself.
we as parents of the future trappers, hunters, and fishermen need to make it available as possible. keep up the good work badger!!!!

He has so many school activities that it has been hard for him to run his own yet. He usually goes with me on the weekends, and any other days off. We are trying to change that this year. The land I trap behind the house will be his next year, along with a few local ponds. I'm trying to limit it to what he can run before school. I don't want it to get too big, and I end up running his traps for him. Just hate to see him not be there for his first of any catch.

My oldest son ran his first trap this year(notice I said trap). He ended up catching a great big barn rat outside his Mom's house. I don't think I've ever seen him happier than he was when he showed me the pic. To tell the truth,Iwas proud of him because it was his first catch and he set the little #0 jump trap and placed it all by himself. He's gonna be a maniac :bouncy:

Not having a father that could teach me things made getting into hunting very difficult for me. Thank god i have lots of people who are willing to help me any way they can when they have no obligation to what so ever.
Your son is lucky to have you.
