North Opener

Did anyone hunt the north zone this weekend?? Anyone seeing wood ducks? Hoping to get out next week for some jump shooting.

I hate to say this but I have to set here for the South to open up, but with all the cold frounts that have been coming through it should be a good one. I will let ya all know next week:D .

lance i was out sat and sun. it was a slow one,we were out in northern portage county sat then on sunday we went up to grand river hunting area. tried jump shooting three spots and a big zero. there are some woodies around but not as many as other years,we had a cold front the first week of oct. it snowed at solon one nite,my truck was covered in the morning. we did manage three ducks on sat, at a small beaver pond,a mallard,woodie and a blue wing teal.you wanted some feathers for fly tying if i remember right.if so what types?we kept the wings off the blue wing didn,t know if you wanted any tail,breast,colered ones or plane ones.let me know we got picked for two different weeks to go on la due so we,ll be getting some i hope it starts to cool off and bring some northerners down

If I get really ambitious I may dig out my deke's if get a real cold wet morning but I'll probably stick to the jump shooting thing. It's been along time since I've called ducks and never was near as good at calling them as I was geese.

lance,no problem on the feathers, i,ll just pluck some types off different ones and baggie them for you,then we,ll hook up to get them to you.i was out this morn after work and there,s still enough woodies around.

well we finally had a good hunt sat. morn, a foggy start for a hour or so then the ducks started flying.we endend up with three drake mallards two green wing teal and a limit of geese. by ten thirty.and we didn,t use the calls to any ducks,just for the geese.they just commited when they saw the spread.going to la due sunday as we got drawn for a blind on the south side.oh yeah,the feather collection has started lance...

I bought my stamps tonight, I'm hoping to do a little jump shooting this week. Who knows maybe I'll get ambitious enough to dig out some deke's.
