I just got back from ND and had a great time. Ended up shooting 35 ducks plus lost a couple due to cattails and some divers not dropping for 200 yds out in the water. I shot lots of spoonbills, gadwalls, mallards, green wing teal, blue wing teal, 2 pintails, buffleheads. I went up alone with my 2 dogs so the hardest thing was I the only guy hunting the area and had to work hard to get ducks. Theres so much water the ducks literally fly out of one pot hole and drop in the next one 200 yds away. At any one time there was 2000 to 5000 ducks on the big open water. I even seen 8000 ducks working a crop field, it was amazing, one back cloud that turned into a tornado into the field. The biggest problem is theres so much water. Basically I just scouted in the afternoon watching the small potholes then setup where I seen the ducks on the water the next morning. Theres lots of wind so the ducks where looking for wind breaks throughtout the day and I just set up after the morning hunt. Nothing like 200 mallards dropping in on you at 11am. I did some pass shooting in a couple spots where the divers would fly through. Lots of fun.

Isn't ND amazing!!! This was my first year waterfowl hunting and I got a chance to go with my cousins. We filled out on ducks and got a hand full of geese. I shot a "eagle head" blue goose. I can't wait to get him back from the taxidermist. I couldn't believe the large black clouds of geese and ducks. I'm hooked on duck hunting. We had swan tags but could only get them to come in around 80 yards. They look like B-52's on a bombing mission. Maybe next year!!!
