Good Morning,
I have a few questions maybe someone could help with. First of all I'm all for hunting and do love to hunt myself. I'm just looking at safety issues to protect myself and family. I live near Caesers Creek Lake on 3 acres and have state land bordering my house on 3 sides. At the closest point my actual house sits 70 feet from the park border. I get alot of hunters that hunt the land behind my house. Most are curtious and obey the laws but I have others that blatantly walk thru my yard with guns and have had people shoot so close to my house that I've actually ducked below window level. Are there any rules or regulations that dictate how close to a private residence hunters are allowed to hunt? I by no means want to ban hunting but as my neighbor already has two 12 gauge holes thru his siding, it does concern me and I would feel safer if hunters stayed a safer distance back. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
David

That's a tought one. If I want to shoot a deer from my dining room, I can legally do so. There may be some regulations if a person is is hunting on private land, though I can't find any. Since they're on public land, I'm not sure if there's much that can be done. I understand your concern. You may want to contact the local game warden and see what he says.

As far as the guys shooting from your property Call the law. Snap a picture of them and call the sheriff. Trespassing and hunting without permission are pretty stiff penalties.

I would contact the park about your concerns with hunters that close to your house. I would think they would help you. I would not put up with it. Start calling the sheriff and use the I am afraid for my safety with all of the gun fire thing.

I could not find any laws about distances from roads or houses.

Are there hunting area boundary signs? If so you might want to relocate them 50 yards deeper into the park.

Thanks for responding, I may have worded the original message wrong. I have never had anyone actually attempt to hunt from my property, but my yard is very long and some of the hunters get tired or stay out to late so instead of going thru the woods they feel its easier to just walk thru my yard. Its just annoying to look out your window and see an armed hunter in your back yard. I'm going to contact the ODNR I just thought I'd find out as much info as I can before I call them. I had heard from a friend that there is a restriction that prohibits hunting within 400 feet of a residence. But so far I have found no information to back this up

I though there was some type of restriction too, without the landowners concent, but I can't find any mention of it. If there is, it should be the state's reponsibility to mark the boundries. Your neighbor and yourself should get together and express your concerns with the state. Show them pictures of the slug holes too. That's a BIG problem.

Id post the property all over stating that You WILL prosecute anyone trespassing. That might work....But I hunt this place in auburn and theres this old lady that will shoot at you if you come anywheres near her property. That might work also...lol J/K/
