dont really have a prefrence but make sure they r neoprene and warm if ya gonna go out in feb the rubber ones will kill ya if ya fall in because they will fill up with water and take you down stream also make sure they have buckles on the shoulders not velcrow the velcrow will slip over time i use hodgeman but have looked at cabelas dicks gander mountain and their brands are alll about the same also make sure they r big enought for you to put on some warm clothes for those cold months

Definately get the Neoprene waders. I have the velcro straps and they work fine for me, but I only use my waders about 4 or 5 times a year. I also have no boots attached to mine. They are just footies and I bought some wading boots with felt on the bottom. I like these far better than the kind with the boots built into them.

My 2 cents is get breathables, not neoprenes ~ I wear more layers under them when it's cold and fewer or none when it's warm

I agree, for the window you are looking at using them - breathable. It took me a long time to buy into the idea of breathables for cold weather fishing but when I saw the high end companies like Simms and Pategonia abandon the Neoprene market I figured it must be ok because they are not going to abandon the cold weather gear market. Just too much money there to lose.

While I still own some neoprene as a backup pair I where my breathables year round to fish. Buy a good pair of wader socks with a persperation wicking liner and layer up on your legs and you should be fine. Then once you get into late April and beyond you'll be extremely comfortable when the other guys are sweating like there's no tomorrow.

The only way I could justify still using neoprene at this point is if I wanted a pair of 5 mm waders to wear in a duck swamp in November or if I was trapping.

Thanks Lance ;)

My other input is get boots that have metal studs on the bottom, not felt. The hi enders are getting away from that as well, as it holds bad stuff like whirling that can be transfered from stream to stream...
