This is a stupid question, but I have been googling alot on it to try to get a straight answer. I'm wondering if every driver/team has obvious colors that represents themself as a driver. For example, is Jimmie Johnson always assocaited with blue/white? or is it truly just the drivers number that represents him and his colors are constantly changing. The reason I ask is that I produce certain products and am thinking of doing a nascar line and hitting the road for a couple races. I would probably only choose the top 5 drivers to start with. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I believe the color schemes are related to their sponsors
Bud #9 car---red and white
Miller lite #2 car ---blue and gold
Interstate Batteries #18 car---green and black
Some cars are co-sponsored so their schemes may change from race to race.

The color scheme is more related to their sponsor although the owner / team has some input about it and so does NASCAR. With that being said the roles for changing sponsors in NASCAR is not easy mid season. So colors would go hand in hand.

Gordo,
As stated above most driver's colors are based upon the major sponsor that their paint scheme is based upon.
Driver's with sole major sponsors like Jimmie Johnson will don the fimiliar blue/silver associated with Lowe's. Kasey Kahne will be associated with red and white due to Budweiser. Casey Mears will be in black and white due to the Jack Daniel's label and so on .....
Driver's with mutiple sponsors under contract will race different schemes based upon which company is the major sponsor for that race. That's why you see Jr in green and white for some races for Amp energy drink and blue and white for others due to being sponsored by the National Guard.

For current 2009 Sprint Cup driver paint schemes check out Jayski's listings here:

If you know little about NASCAR you may want to check these schemes out as familiar faces in NASCAR have changed teams, numbers and sponsors. This listing will get you up to date with the most popular driver's current status and colors to produce your products. I hate for you to start producing lots of Tony Stewart Orange and white #20's only to find out he's in the red Old Spice #14.
Good Luck to you.

Thanks a bunch guys, much appreciatted info. I'm looking forward to going to my first race to test the waters and experience what its all about. I hear there is nothing like the first time you hear all the cars fired up. Seems like it should be a great party. thanks again

You'll want to take some hearing protection or you won't hear as well when you leave the track! Deafening...

yes they have team colors...and the drivers uniforms are the same but they do diviate from them for instance johnson who is blue and yellow might do a red/white and blue scheme for the 4th of july...many will change color schemes for special occasions:biggrin:
