Taxidermists do not recommend putting your mounts near fireplaces/woodburners. I know several people that hang their mounts in such a place though. Some look fine while others look like crap.
It depends on how hot you get the room I guess.

Not if your flu, is working properly. If not you'll know as your house fills with smoke. Have had a mount over fireplace for years, perfect place, and adds to the enjoyment of a fire. Enjoy, and get those pics up.

I have my biggest buck mounted right above my vented gas fireplace and it seems to be just fine, right above the log mantle. It gets a little warm, but not hot. If the temperature gets hot in the location you want to hang it, I would probably find somewhere else to put it up.
I think it may have more to do with the overall humidity in the house. I think you will be okay if you have it over the fireplace as long as the heat does not dry out the hide, putty, glue, or any of the other resources used to mount the animal. I would say the mount can tolerate a little heat so long as it is a moist one.
