Less than a month to go and it would be helpful because of limited space and food who is committed and when you are coming down to stay at the lodge!

So far these people have committed and are coming for the week starting Wednesday the 12th through the 16th Sunday.

I'm bringing some trout fillets and will stop at Krogers there in Nelsonville and pick up some things to go with them. Not to mention some much needed beverages!:D

I was suppose to start a new job today but it fell through. As soon as I get a job (this week I hope) I will be able to commit to days since as of right now I dont know what my schedule will be and if they will be okay with me missing days. I am keeping it in mind and I'll pm you rjo and wick as soon as I know something :)

Double lunged a spike this weekend. Had to use my buck tag over three inches. Oh well, venison for deer camp!!!!! I will post the pictures as soon as I can. What an adventure!

Getting closer boys. Deer camp, here we come. Just wanted to make the final edition to cabin roster. All listed have notified me they will be there for camp that week. If you are not planning on attending and you are on the list, please let me know so I can get someone else put on.

Hai! Oh he's not scared of that kind of picture at all FOXHUNTER. As a matter of fact I should show you guys the video I have of him on January 23, 2001 hunting in Logan in just his under wear, snow on the ground and only 19 degrees . Criiiipes! That's was scary and cold from the looks of it.

what an exciting evening! Went out last night for the last hour of hunting based on reports from Ray of activity in our area. Got in about 5:00 and at 25 after had my first action. 2 does about 15 yards that spooked, then a small buck in to the bait pile I held at full draw on for about 2 min. Let down finally and got to draw again and spooked him. By this time I was pretty upset about the whole situation and though I had lost my opportunity that evening. 5 minutes later here comes a doe with a 6 on her tail. Decided I was not going to wait for the buck since I am hunting an Urban area. Needless to say, 60 yards later she was on the ground. All that in about the last 50 minutes of hunting on a day I was not going to go out. What a night! Ray your next!!!

With the shot that you put on that deer, it never had a chance. The old double lungaroo pass through! Works everytime. Not a bad set up either if I may say so myself. :D

Great job! You hung in there and did not give up. Always exciting to get muliple deer around you and then take one. Hard to do actually because you feel defeated after drawing and letting up then having to get into it again. Got smacked on fantasy but get's his deer!!!!!!!! Zaleski grill anyone???

I'm still "in", drop me a pm...I've quit my engineering job and am "taking care of business" at my business. Just so happened I quit my engineering job last friday....hehehhe, think that was a coincidence? Nope, it is prime time hunting and Old Oldhat here is now his own boss (don't tell the wife I said that)....I can hunt when I want, time to take a 10 day - 2 week vacation and "kick back" and lick on myself like and old dog in the shade!

It's the "oldhat tour"....I'm hooking up with a buddy down south and doing some hunting. I plan on Stopping in a deerland and meeting up with the Tenn boys from here. Then it's stopping by and meeting Larry Williams (from this site also..he's from Michigan) at his property in the Chillicothe area. Then it's over to Deercamp at zaleski and hooking up with those guys. My secretary is making out my schedule, anyone I have forgotten to "pencil in"?...hehehhhe, stop the presses fella's it's time to hunt!

RJ, drop me a pm, we'll try and hook up (oh, I shot a nice lil 68 Sunday in the best-ball....ran out of pockets to fill up with the money)...hehhehe.

Remember everyone! The cabin has 5 beds and a couch!!!! Be prepared with a sleeping bag when you come! You might have to sleep on the floor next to beer cans!!! Either way it will be a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm headed down to Lake Hope tomorrow. Still can not find out what cabin we'll be in. I'll be in a 2001 Red dodge ram 1500 with a red lid on it with franklin county plates. If you see me give me a holler or introduce yourself. The other truck will be a 2001 blue dodge ram. Hope to meet some of you there. Not sure where we'll be hunting, just found out today that the private property we hunt was sold so we are going into this blind. No idea where to start. I'll check this post if anyone knows when they'll be down there and what theyll be driving.

Well a long story cut short.I changed dept at work and could not get the vac. scheduled in the new dept that i already had schedule through my old dept for camp this year.So i had to opt to go down in early Oct instead with the guys in Nov.which really sucked because i was looking forward to it all year.So i will miss this years camp but next year i will be there i don't see myself changing dept again anytime soon.I will be able to make it for the weekend though so i will still be able to see the guys for at least two days.

Dude that really blows.... I know how you felt. The same thing happened to me in 2000. I was supposed to check into a different squadron and I'd be home for deer season. Well as luck would have it the Marine Corps changed it's mind and I ended up checking into my present unit and deploying on the boat a week later.:eek:

I guess my master plan for attempting to pass up your number of post is all washed up.....;)

Dear Hunter you really are having some bad times here lately i hope it all works out for you on the puter deal.

About deer camp: Things will pup up and you just can't make it some years:Money,kids,wife,girl friend,jobs,Sick ,no bay sitters all sorts of thing so don't feel bad,I will be missing camp this year also and that really sucks but there is always the next time.

Not really sure were johnstown is ,Camp is at Lake hope which is about 20 min south of Nelsonville or about 15 min. north of MCarthur.

It would take you about 2-1/2hrs, maybe 2hrs. It takes me 2-1/2hrs. Do they still have that swap meet up there? I went there a few yrs. ago w/ my father-in-law and watched the dogs swim.

Yes they still have swappers day. I think it's over Labor Day weekend.

The last time I was there was back in 1998.

I know when I was a younger you used to get some good deals, but I don't know about now.

I had a blast hunting yesterday hunting out of a blind for the first time. Ok the first thing that went wrong I have 3 Does a Spike and a 6 point buck strolling in front of my blind with my bow fully drawn my heart is pumping so fast and Im thinking of a good shot when I look down and here my arrow is out of the rest I must have hit the blind and knocked the dang arrow of it so I couldnt shoot. Ok we all knows doo doo happens . Ok the second thing that happened im in my blind and all is really quiet then all of a sudden BAM a big quirrel fell out of the tree had hit the top of my blind I almost had to change my pants . The last bad thing that happen im sitting there agian and all is quiet when all of a sudden and another dang squirrel came at a full run bang it the blind and came in to see me hit my legs then just sat there looking up at me I thought oh no is there going to be a fight and all of a sudden the squirrel seen a window to get out of there, so at a full run he runs up my legs and body hit my shoulder and jumped out the window behind my head. After all of this I dont like hunting out of a blind .

I just got back from lake hope. I met up with Wick and the others last night. I;ve been down there since Sunday afternoon. The three of us did not get a deer. One guy missed a doe Monday afternoon. Talk about bad luck, my brother fell into a creek two times and the weather was crazy. Three days it was in the high 60s. Last night the winds came in, about 30-40 mphs. Really blowing on top of the ridges. We did see alot of deer. The biggest was about a 170 class. All together we saw about 15 bucks. Just couldnt get them to come in range. Now the really bad news.Tuesday night we got some rain, it didn't seem like alot. My brother parked along a road we've been parking at for the last 10 years. He got into the woods at 7 am. About 10:30 he started back to the truck and when he got there the river across the street had went over its bank in a flash flood. The water was up over the top of his tires. He tried to get it started and went about 10 feet and the current caught it and spun his truck around and was pushing his truck. All he had time to do was climbed out the window and get to dry land. The water was up to his chest in places. He made it back to the house of the guy who lets us hunt and was stranded there for the rest of the day. The water was all around the house not letting us in or them out. We got ahold of a tow truck but the water didn't go down enough until this morning about 9 am. The truck was a 2001 Dodge extended cab truck. The water line was over the dashboard. The tow driver said that the insurance agency would total it. Not a good trip.

So to hear about that chopiq. Yeah the weather finally turned towards winter this week,lol. The hocking was up as far as I've seen it in awhile and the winds knocked out some power across the road last night. I might head over to see the guys tommrow or saturday night and meet them all. Hopefull your trip will be better next year.

I'd been planning on attending all week... Got sick Tuesday night with the flu and went to work a couple days with it and was sent home. Stayed inside all day today except to take the dogs on a quick walk. Feelin better but Im still not close to 100 % yet. I hope they shot a few for me.

I remember one time I was drawn for a special managment hunt on MCRD Parris Island. For weeks I awaited this hunt and guess what...... On the day of the hunt I got really sick.

Being hard headed I went anyway. I fell asleep in the stand....:rolleyes:

We had a great time, with no harvests' to report. Win some, lose some, I guess. Although this deer camp was more about just getting together with some good guys and hangin out around the fire. The hunting is definately great down there, but it was more about being with good friends.

One of my buddies back in Beaufort went to Ohio to hunt with a friend. The hunted at Zaleski.... I believe it was the first week of November. If any of you ran into an Marines there then that was probably them.

One of the is a tall blonde goofy looking guy. He missed a six point (he always misses). Billy (the goofy guy) reserved a cabin for next November. I could kill two birds with one stone if I came down to visit...:)

I know I can speak for Fox Hunter when I say we had a freakin blast. I'm glad we hooked up w/ you guys. I will say though that I don't think I have ever eaten so much in my life. Chicken Wings, Chicken Halves, Trout, Spaghetti w/ homemade sauce, Casseroles and it just goes on & on. I'm still stuffed!!!!

Fox Hunter and I did get some video footage of a buck chasing a doe. He was pretty nice but I didn't zoom in on him cause I was to busy looking at him through the binoculars. NOT THE I DIDN'T ZOOM TRICK!!!!

Would've had a shot, but "Spooker" .. ummm, I mean Wickohio came rolling through the area I was hunting and spooked two does that were working the ridge 50 - 60 yards from me. There's always someone millin' around in someone else's area spooking the deer away or something like that. There's always something. :rolleyes:
