I’m planning on putting my house on the market very soon, but I have a detached guest room that has been inhabited by a stray cat lately. I had no idea it was getting in there, and now there is a terrible smell in the space. It’s a relatively small room, about 200 square feet. I think the smell is coming from a few small sections of carpet. I need an easy to use solution that will work fast. I’ve looked into carpet cleaners (http://www.woolitecarpet.com/) , but what about a product that is specially designed to be a cat urine odor remover (http://www.anti-icky.com/)

remove the carpet and pad and use a stain kill paint/sealer...if theres just one area it can be patched but if the smells real bad probably best to remove all...leave the windows up during and after applying the stain kill until the fumes from it are gone, very strong...be careful there could be legal issues, some people are very sensitive to cat hair or just cats in general ...we had a person have a collapsed lung that was allergic to cats at apartments where i worked and got a collapsed lung from it...:D

Go to Wal-Mart in the pet section and buy some of that OUT natural Pet odor neutralizer. I can attest that this stuff works. They even make a shampoo.. Regular hertz shampoo will keep my Basset hound stink free for a week. The OUT shampoo keeps her stink free for 3 weeks.

If you are on a sub floor obviously it would be best to rip up the carpet and pad and paint the sub floor with a heavy primer. Try this stuff first. Don't be easy on it. Just spraying it will not get down far enough.. Find the areas that cat pissed and pour this stuff all around it.. SOAK the carpet the same as pee would. It has enzymes in it that will break down the cat urine. As always test in an inconspicuous area for color safeness.

PS Shoot that cat

I know first hand how hard it is to get cat pee out of carpets. The neutralizer jackalope is talking about does work. As for the cat itself.

Here is your solution

Beware of the cat shooting back though

Your right.. It's part of a stupid ad service. junk loaded on his comp.. It's probably a legit question and poster, just with some BS ad program loaded.. There was another poster on here doing that a few months ago.. I finally gave him enough crap that he quit doing it. With it being his first post I'll give him the benefit of the doubt but we'll see if the trend continues. But with the post being in the wrong category, it may very well be a forum bot.

Mix equal parts of Hydrogen peroxide and liquid potpourri,
then use a spray bottle.

Then shoot the cat !
