Was wondering if you guys have ever seen anything like this before. My bro in law and I where out shed hunting on Sunday afternoon. We were not having to much luck had found a doe skull. When we were on our trip back around we were walking a fence row between two cut bean fields. We found all kinds of bones and part of another doe skull. Scattered around the field was bones. Probably in a good 100 yd circle. Then we saw this mound in the middle of the field. At first we thought it was just where the combine had kind of plugged up and then spit it out. But when we got close we noticed the ground was clean dirt all around this pile. We started digging through this pile with our walking sticks and low and behold there was a spine and rib bones with meat still on them.
So I was just wondering if anybody has ever found where a yote had burried its food before. From what we could tell that was probably the only thing that could have done it.

Can you set up a camera to find out who did it?

Dont forget the almost famous Morrow County bigfoot sightings from last year. I suppose anything 8 foot tall and covered with hair that somehows has gone undiscovered for centuries could easily run a deer down and bury it in an open field without being seen..lol
Seriously tho..
I think cats and bears are about the only predators that bury their prey.. Ya know I have heard (and been sent on) several big cat sightings in the past couple years over this way.. But didnt see anything. But do work with a couple who have (and swear) to seeing a mountain lion last summer in Marion county..

Maybe the combine ran over a heard of deer... chewed them up and spit them out...

My guess is either bigfoot, yeti, the abominable snowman, the ohio grass man, or a chupacabra. Either way, I would avoid the area like the plague. :mischeif:

Did he HAND it over? It oviously wasn't the hand that feeds him.
I've lost alot of things in the woods, no hands yet.
As for the thread, I think we need more detail of the area & findings. It is very suspicious. Sure sounds like some kind of animal kills. ??? Hmmmm ???

I heard a story over 20 years ago about an arm being found by a dog in Columbiana county and dragged home. They never found the rest. It bugged me because I hunted in the area and did not want to find the rest.
Bigfoot, its possible they are not as big as described and look human. or they are aliens from another planet which makes more sense.

I agree with MCSO28, Cats and Bears are known for covering up a meal, coyotes just piss on them to claim it. Not sure about badgers though, Pictures would help...

I wish I would have had a camera to take some pics but just didn't have it. The pile was found out in the middle of a cut bean field that is around 45 acres in size. It is the center field between 2 other cut bean fields divided by tree lines. The pile that was found was probably only 500 yds away from interstate 71 outside of Bellville. There were remains of deer scattered across this field. I believe that there was only enough remains for there to be one deer. The remains that were not covered by the pile were clean of any meat and looked to be partially bleached and weathered.
The pile that was found was totally covering the bones with the meat. I would say that there was about half the spine with a half a dozen rib bones attached. There was probably about a 3 square foot area around the pile that was nothing but dirt. So whatever was hiding this food had made sure to do a good job of covering them up.
I find it hard to believe that it would be a cat or bear. As there is residents in the very near area that have free ranging chickens that don't seem to disappear. I would think that if there where large cats in the area that those chickens would be easy pickens, but then again I guess they would be easy pickens for any yotes in the area to.
Things that make you go HHHHHMMMMMMMMM???? :coco:

I found a campsite in my own woods once. For some reason, they left the tent, sleeping bag, latern, clothes, shoes....everything. The weird thing is this stuff was was rotting meaning it had to be there a long time but we most certainly would have noticed it beforehand.

Sounds to me like a poacher's dump site. Shot the deer there then covered it to conceal it.

I was shed hunting in a "city type area" some years ago and ran across a mattress with what from a distance looked like a body under it. Luckily it was just a bunch of blankets under it, finding a body would kinda creep me out.

I hiked in a looong way today, I saw something suspicious laying on the ground so I went over to investigate. I was surprised when I found out that it was a dildo. This makes the second dildo that I have found just randomly lying way back in the woods.

Coyotes will bury food occasionally - not sure about your deer and it sounds more like the work of a human. I have however, seen a coyote bury a groundhog under the surface of a freshly picked bean field. This was years ago - I was bowhunting a tree stand in October when I saw the yote with a groundhog hanging from his mouth. He went to a spot and uncovered a small area and put the groundhog right there in the ground. I checked it out after I climbed down from my hunt.
That is the only time I have seen this, but it has to occur. I figured he was saving it for the next day or two:confused:

Traphunter,
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, that is intersting to hear. Perhaps the brown one was from the year before and had faded from the sunlight. Try setting the purple one outside on your front porch in the direct sunlight, perhaps that will help with the fading process. :bouncy:
I can see how purple would stand out in the woods but how the heck did you see the brown one? Maybe you heard it first!
Looking forward to your "Next Find"............or maybe not. :D

I listened to a presentation from an anti-exotic animal person who is also the only person in the tristate area that will capture a lion, bear, snake, alligator, etc. He is who the state police call. i can't think of his name right now but he stated that every year he is called to catch on average 7 adult wild cats (lions, cougars, etc). WOW!
Check this article out, it was written in 2006 but is an eye opener to what is really around us that we don't even realize.

I know of a couple people here in Crawford county that own exotic poisonous snakes, scorpions, and spiders. The one guy owns an alligator and the other guy owns a mountain lion named Thor. We also have a wildlife rehab that owns bobcats and a mountain lion as well. Also the next city over a knew a guy that had two lions (breading pair) that he kept in his basement. Pretty sure other counties have the same thing just not very many people that know about them.

JD, this getting werid! How long before you go back?
After you get the trail cam put up you will probably be tried and thirsty. Sit in the lawn chair and rest and have a couple of those brews to quench the thirst and be on your way. Can't really help ya out on the gallon of gas not knowing if its unleaded or regular. If ya knew you could take it and use it for your lawn mower.
For the record, all my lawn chairs are accounted for, and if the next time you go there and find a cross run....run like the wind my friend and don't look back!!!! :D
