Wow, coyotes always amaze me. We made two extremely unproductive sets for coyotes last night, and one amazing "set". I had my gun slung on my back and my uncle Joe had his hanging down to his side as we were walking up a small hill to where we wanted to set up. As we are walking, crunching in the snow, and whispering back and forth about where to set up, my uncle yells, "There he is". I look up to see a coyote walking past us not 10 yds from where we were standing. Yeah, I said 10 yds! That coyote never ran, jumped, turned around, nothing! He acted like we weren't even there. Either it didn't know what we were there or just didn't care, because their is no possible way it didn't see us or hear us. My uncle throws up his gun and has a laser sight right on him but can't get the safety off. I had time to pull my gun off my back, turn on my red light, pull up and get him into my scope before he started to run. As I was pulling up, to shoot in front of my uncle, he pulls his gun up under mine and yells their's another one. I jerked my gun back and looked to where he was pointing and thier was another on less than 25 yards just standing there. Joe shot and missed twice, and then I finally got a shot way out there and missed him also. We stood there stunned for a couple minutes amazed at what happened. When we went to look for blood, we found another set of tracks in some grass stubble less than 40 yards away that we never saw. We walked away without any coyotes, but it was awesome. In all the confusion, we were giving each other commands, all the while looking at two different dogs and we didn't kill any of them. We were completely taken by surprise. Even though we didn't kill anything, it may have been the craziest, and most exciting 10 seconds of my life, and was a ton of fun!:bouncy: Anybody else have a good story?
