I just saw something pretty interesting on TV. It was on a nature show on PBS... anyways, they were showing Red deer in the Austrian Alps. One thing that was cool were these structures called "Green Bridges." These are basically man-made bridges that go over highways, only instead of being paved they are covered with trees and vegetation. The Red deer cross the highways using these Green Bridges instead of crossing through the highway itself and into on-coming traffic. I thought it was a great concept. Not sure if these would be justifiable anywhere in Ohio, but I would like to see them at least experimented with here. You would think the insurance companies would support it. Has anyone else heard of these or know of any around here?

They put a few of the deer culverts in around the 33 bypass around Lancaster..... I think they are also putting a few of the deer culverts in the Nelsonville bypass... They also have areas around the the Nelsonville bypass that have butterfly nets..... so they can cross over instead of going through traffic.. and also spots around r/w fencing so the deer can jump and land soft in a sandy material.
