DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Rain is threatening to delay the start of the Daytona 500.
Intermittent showers were expected to move across Daytona International Speedway a few hours before the start of the NASCAR race, which could potentially delay the green flag. It takes about two hours to completely dry the 2 1/2-mile superspeedway after a rainstorm.
NASCAR officials, though, were hopeful the season-opening race would be completed Sunday - even if the entire event had to take place under the lights and in prime time. :bouncy:
Local forecasts called for a 70 percent chance of rain and scattered showers all afternoon and throughout the evening. :(
Go Mark Martin :coolgleamA: Win one for the 50 something crowd :D

I don't think so. I think Vickers took a chance.. Vickers was up in the pack at a lap down trying to hold on to get the free pass.. Jr had a run on him and Vickers tried to put a block on jr when jr had the run on him... So the bumped and rubbed down the track to the grass... But Vickers didn't have to keep it up when jr needed to get back up.. Duh vickers what did you think was going to happen when you cut off a faster car, then try to get back to the top of the track while you're still rubbing.. Like the commentator said after Jr nose picking interview.. If JR would have wrecked him on purpose he would have said so..
I do feel bad for kyle busch, he had a strong car and to get caught up in some lap traffic junk was a raw deal..
I really wanted to see the end of the race when Gordon’s tire exploded putting him into the wall because he decided to push them with that camber issue. Dang it!

Carzy isn't it.. I am just glad he held back the rainbow hippie.. Ole Jeff is starting to earn his salt in NASCAR if you ask me. Since the economic downturn last year Ole DuPont hasn't poured enough money into the Rainbow warriors car to even win a race. Yes that’s right folks. Jeffy the superstar didn't win a single race in the 08 season. He blames it on the wife and a new kid and maybe some back pain. Wah Wah Wah. In reality it's DuPont and Pepsi not pouring as much cash into the pretty boys car. That coupled with NASCAR deciding that Poster boy Jeff is yesterdays news. Runing a new marketing idea to appeal to younger crowd I think they are ditching the California pretty boy for a younger Joey Logano... Maybe it's a stretch maybe I'm wrong but I see old Gordon giving it up when his measly 2 year sponsorship deal with DuPont is up in 2010.. Yep that’s right DuPont only signed him for 2 years.. If he goes winless this year again it'll probably be all over but the crying for old Gordon.. But if he hangs in there with dwindling sponsorship dollars, races hard, and puts a few wins under his belt, with a car that wasn't cast in gold like years past, he may just earn his salt in my book...

I didn't see any of Daytona cept for some highlights. What's up with Jr blowing it in the pits twice? He is better than that and much better at that track! As for the Cali race I watched some of it, but man was it boring. How's about a little rubbing.............. afterall, "rubbin son, is racing". There was like one caution for an incident on the track. When the whole field is spread out with mutiple seconds between all the cars................that's just plain boring. Agressive drivers get hammered now. Ole Tony Stewart didn't wreck anybody.............hehe...........can't afford to now that Gibbs aint payin the bills.
Used to be "run what ya brung". Now it's track position and horsepower. That's it. I expect more of the same at Vegas. Short tracks are still interesting to some degree.
No trifecta for Kyle Busch. GOOD!

JR and Mark both Blew springs they blamed it on the Hendrick motors. JR said "they are great motors but something broke, we'll find out what it was and make sure it doesn't happen again" I think it was a lead foot on a fast track..
Had to be one of the most boring races I've seen in a while.. 4 rain cautions a few for 20 laps, and 1 caution for someone love tapping the wall..... BOOOOO.. The only reason I watched the end was to see homo boy smack the wall trying to catch kenseth with a shot right front tire.. It didn't happen but a guy can dream can't he... Hey what’s up with Gordon and his fronts wearing out.. He had a similar problem at Daytona.. It was a shim there, who knows last night..

After Junior missed his pit box in Daytona, then when he found it he couldn't park in it. Going into the Vegas race I said the 88s got a shot if he can keep his head out of his butt in the pits. I mean hell the only rookie mistake he's got left is to miss pit road completely.. Well I was wrong. The 88 at Vegas speeding on pit road.. Dang it Junior what the hell..
Ohh Nancy boy missed pit road completely.. Blame it on the left front locking up blah blah blah. He came in hot and drifted right past pit road Ahhhhh ha ha ha.. Stupid.. But man he still almost put it in the top 5 finishing 6th..
I was rooting for Kyle after he got robbed at Daytona. He had a great shot at winning Daytona but got screwed when Vickers decided to run his rear end into junior. So it's good Kyle got a solid win.
I still say look out for that 24 car. When he decides to get his head out of his butt he'll be winning again. He's got a good car if he could just drive it into clean air where he likes to be. The flashed the 24s stats last night he had like 460 races with 220 in the top 10 and 80 wins.. DANG That’s saying that is he doesn't win or crash he's guaranteed a top 10.. That’s pretty good. But last year he couldn't win a race to save his life.. I think that hard hit at Vegas last year made him a little wheel shy with his new family and daughter got him thinking.. He needs to get back on the bull.
BTW what’s a good seat at Charlotte. I was looking at picking up tickets for me and the lady to go to the Coke 600. I have never been to Charlotte though.. I was looking at either turn 4 or the Chrysler stands. Also how high. I know I don’t want to be down low but I want to be low enough so when the go high in the turn I can still see them over the wall.

I have been to Charlotte many times. The best seats I have sat in were up high in the terrace boxes coming out of turn 4. The Coke 600 is an awesome race also. One of the best races to go to during the year. I never really care about the pre-race stuff, but it is always awesome at the Coke 600.
