I found something this weekend that should help with keepin the old feet warm.
I do wear two pairs of socks, one thin polyester pair, one wool pair and my insulated boots along with the bootie covers that the wifey bought for me last year.
But I have added something you guys might want to try.
I got to cleaning up the garage last Saturday and found an old pool float made out of close cell foam. I cut off a piece about 12" X 18" ,its small enough to slip into my backpack and I just put it on the ground and then step on it. Unfortunately, I cant get out today to put it to a good field test, gotta pick up my Grandson today, but tomorrow I'm going out. Last week I went out Thurday at 2:00 pm and saw 6 deer in the first field as i was driving into the property.
My buddy next door just called me on his way to work and said he saw 12 of them out in the fields.Grazing before the storm comes in tonite .
So, tomorrow I;m taking my new feet warmer pad and I'll let ya know the four-six hour results.

Well,i'll get back to everyone tonite or tomorrow. getting ready to head out. We got 5 inches of snow over night here in Hamilton, and its still coming down and they are calling for couple more inches tonite. Got my foam pad in the backpack, plus my good ol' PB and J sammiches, apple and hot tea in the thermos wifey got me for Christmas. Its a small "thermos" brand. holds about 2 cups just enought to keep my belly warm. So, i'll let you all know how the foot warmer works out.
Happy Huntin gang!

Great idea, and let us know how it works.

I've always had a problem with my feet freezing and I have tried everything, but I did find something that actually helped me this year. I found some insoles at wal-mart that claimed to keep your feet warm, so like everything else in the past I tried it and they actually worked for me. I can not remember the name but they are replacement insoles that specifically state they will keep your feet warm.

I'll definitely buy some more.

Chance, I will definitley look for those inserts too. I have a problem with keeping my feet and hands warm, arthritis and too many broken bones in the past. But tonite with the foam padding it DID help!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didnt have to put heat packets in my boot covers like i usually do,a dn even though it was about 20 and 6 inches of wet snow, sitting in my chair blind it was better.
Although, i didnt see a d*mn thing.
i did have a little chickadee land on top of my blind, then came in and sat on my crossbow!
Weird???????
WE are getting freezing rain then more snow tonite so, maybe I;ll try again tomorrow if the roads are o.k.

I found some Baffin -40 rated swamp boots for about $35-40. I have used them and they are extremely warm and keep your feet dry. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=398511

Pathfinder, those look pretty warm and with my S/G member discount I'd only pay $31.47 plus free shipping! Think I'll get them ordered today since we are all stuck inside. Level three emergency sh*t.
Heck I was out driving around the neighborhood this morning.
