Has anybody been out or doing any good.
Can someone help me out here what is the best tape or call to use during the summer and early fall.

The best chance I would get to see a coyote would be if it ran though the mill where I work. :( Maybe I'd see it as it ran pass the monitors.
At work I can't see the forest for these...... the walls around my control room.
Anyways, back to the subject. I'm becoming more convinced that if you can make any sound that sounds like an easy meal for a coyote you'll have fur in your face. I'm sure a bear in distress won't bring in many coyotes, but then again? Just go & look at all the different calls on our sponsor Predator Calls. There's bunches of them.
good luck & if you hit on something let me know. ;)

I think vvarmitr is right. If one is in the right mood, you can call him in with a chicken (they make a chicken tape too :D ) The only thing to think about would be if there's any pressure from other hunters. They do tend to get call shy from certain sounds, but that's not a problem around these parts. The rabbit in distress is a tried and true fur producer.

CD2,
i have hunted yotes for a while now. i started with a tape then after unsatisfactory results we went to the tried and true mouth calls. the best one around my parts anytime is the knight and hale predator series 900 i think it was supposed to be a distressed rabbit but it dont have the sound its more of a shrill like something hurt. blow it like your dying and they come runnin. weve tried the new digital calls to but the mouth blown has worked everytime even to bring them in real close. we get them close enough for 00 buck range when the situation limits are shooting area. next thing we found that works real well is in spring use a fawn decoy and a fawn bleat. better be fast on the sights tho. if you call for a few minutes and see nothing move 300 yards or better and try again if you dont see them in the first 5 min after calling i have never seen them at all so i move on.
just my 2 cents tho

Hey CD: Are you going to use your bow or you got something else up your sleeve?
MD223: I'm thinking I want to use 4buck instead of 00. That's a 24 caliber vs a 32 caliber pellet I think. So far I haven't found any in the 3 1/2" mag so I'll going to load my own. What do you think?
M.Magis(my mangie coyote killen hero): would you take me coyote hunting sometime(if I get a day off) & show me what a coyote looks like. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :D

I don't kill many, but by coincidence I shot one tonight. Looked like a young one, but I have to find it tomorrow. He made his way to the neighbors corn field and tracking a wounded coyote in the corn at night isn't high on my list of favorite things. I made it a good ways, but decided to back out til tomorrow as the corn is still pretty thick. I live on a very large hill and have a really good view of the farm. I keep the rifle by the back door, and every once in a while it comes in handy.:D

Boy would i love to take one with a bow but for now it will be shotgun slugs and old dirty harry the 44 mag.jacketed hollow points.Maybe once i get good i will switch over to the old bow but for now i want knock down no tracking job
I got my recorder in the mail tonight so with that and my hand held call i'm ready for some action.I'm going to use the rabbit distress and try the red fox distress and see what i can stir up.I need to find me a stuffed rabbit to use for a decoy any suggestions, i like the flambeau rabbit but can't see shelling out 50 bucks for it though.
I will keep you posted on how it goes this winter, maybe some weekend we could put on a coyate hunt, and i could gets some helpful tips:D

I don't know CD2. I sometime think that those decoys are more to fool us out of our money than fool the animals.
IMHO..... Start w/ a real piece of fur. Tack it around a 2x4 if you have to, add an eye, & some way to make it move. Oh yeah, add some way to anchor it down so the coyote doesn't run off w/it. These animals know the difference between fur & foam rubber. The main reason I think these form rubber decoys work sometimes is they have some motion.
I've heard so much that is why I think fur makes a difference.
ie....Guys wearing fur hats & calling coyotes only to be attacked by raptors. One guy has a coyote fur hat & has had coyote submit to him. Just before they got blasted. :D
By the way, Dennis Kurt comes around every once & a while & puts on a seminar. They are worth the price. ;)

I'd like to shoot a coyote and make a back quiver outta it's hide.
