Many have focused on the here and now and the what's to come with the recent events in Washington.
I would like everyone to know that I thank George W. Bush for his service to this great country. He did what he felt was right to keep us all safe and he did it in the face of a great and mercilous disdain from many. He was constantly criticized in the media and by popular hollywood figure heads. He never waned from his stance and did everything he could to keep us safe. He did his duty. For that I am grateful and offer him thanks.
I don't think he was the best president ever, but I think he did a fine job and deserves some thanks. I know he won't get it from CNBC or CNN, but he is getting it from me.

i also agree.i think he's a good man and he loves this great country as much as any of us.he was dealt a bad hand IMO with the terror attacks and other situations and he made decisions that aren't easy to make and it makes me wonder what all the haters would have done had they been in his shoes.again thankks G.W.Bush for your service.

I think that in his parting speech he made a good point, while his decisions weren't always the best in hindsight, he made the tough decisions with the information available, and that is a hard job to do.
God Bless George W. Bush. And Dick Cheney.

I still don't like him...;) I consider my political views to lean to the right, but I still disagree with many of his decisions... Guess I'm the first one that didn't like him... oh well...

I don't think this thread was about him being popular, it was about President Bush making the United States safe. I am thankful he was President when 9/11 happened. Do I agree with his fiscal policies, not really, but with making our country safe I agree.

No, I guess it wasn't about that... sorry, I am also glad he was president when 9/11 happened, better than Gore by a longshot... I won't get into the "war" on terrorism... and before anyone shoots me, I was enlisted in the U.S. Army, however tore my back up and got discharged, I'm by no way anti-military... I've just researched stuff myself and come up with my own opinion on things, that and having friends that have served over there... I don't buy everything the media says...

and lets keep in mind, that we've all had years of hind sight to make our opinions.
even the Far Left Dems at the time, followed what intelligence we had. Right wrong, or indifferent Hindsight is easy.

i think he did a very good job of staying on top of the terrorism threat and because of it we weren't attacked a 2nd time.

x13 He was put in a tough spot with 911 and I think he was the right man to be in the position to protect the country. I think he always did what he thought was best for the freedom of all mankind.

I think it would be hard for anyone to say that he didnt have our country's best interest in mind. Right or wrong. Good decisions or bad. He cared about the safety for people in this country.

x 14. In my opinion, national security is the #1 priority of the president, no matter who it is. In that case, Bush gets my approval.

X16 If it wasn't for the media hating him so much because he didn't play their way, he would have been judged much fairer. If you look at the banking industry and the loan scandals you will see they go right back to old Billy bob Clinton and his cronies. Senator Barney Frank has been and will continue to be one of the biggest problems. If there was a republican controlled congress he would be indicted right now along with a lot of the people at Freddie and Fannie. But once again thanks to the media it's all Bush's fault.

Babwana I agree......Everyone thought that clinton was such a awesome president and that he did a good job.
Well we did not start to see the effect of his office until 4 years later which is typical if you ask me.
