Ok. Here is the story I got. A guy I work with said his uncle purchased the Taurus Judge revolver, which shoots .410 and 45 long (I believe). He said they went to Dick's to buy some .410 shells and they were marked up from 5.49 to 6.59. The woman at the counter said they are holding off on all ammo until Obama takes over. Has anyone else ran in to this situation? I guess China-mart is out of ammo and are waiting on the new taxes.
I hope all of the outdoorsman who voted for the idiot take a close look at this and think long and hard about their decision. All I hear is he is gonna give the middle class what they deserve, they were blinded by the fact that he is willing to tax the crap out of you through the year and then give a portion of it back at the end. Not to mention the Federal tax on hunting supplies:nono::nono::nono: I am not a doomsday kinda guy but I already am not liking the way things are going and he isn't even "in control" yet. I am searching for more detailed answers on this subject and will post any if I find them, until then feel free to voice your opinions and findings.

Ammunition Price Increases: Bad and Getting Worse
Back in March, I wrote about the soaring costs of ammunition (http://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/2008/03/14/the-soaring-cost-of-ammunition/). Later the same month, I let everyone know about the pending price increases by ATK, the parent company of Speer, Federal, and CCI (http://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/2008/03/26/federal-cci-speer-ammunition-prices-will-significantly-increase-on-april-1/). Now that a few more months have passed, I thought some of you would be interested in seeing how much prices have increased since the first half of 2008.

This is one I found and added to favorites, look at the price differences in ammo!!!!

I do a lot of reloading for rifle's hands gun's and shotgun's and I have ran in to this also.
Everyone is out of stock on bullets powder and primers. I wanted to start reloading for my prairie dog hunting trip this summer but I may have to wait now till a guy can pickup bullets.
I did run in to a really good deal Friday on lead shot for my trap gun down in TN. I pickup the last 6 bags of mag shot that this place had. $25 bucks a 25 lbs bag.

It's supply and demand. Obamania has folks putting a "run" on available stocks so supply is short and getting shorter. Look for it to go higher with possibility of more taxes put on it.
Just saw an article in local paper this morning how gun sales, particularly handguns, and ammo sales are off the chart in the last year...how CCP applications are at record highs in our area. Now is a good time own a FFL and a gunshop.

I just don't understand it, kinda like gouging if you ask me. I understand the demand aspect, but come on.:irked:

The run on ammo is old news. It started in October when it became clear the Obama would likely win. Personally I think much of it is over reacting but it's better to be safe then sorry. FWIW I stocked up a little in Oct and Nov.

i think alot of people voted for him because he was black and they wanted bush out of office, with out thinking that bush had to go any ways. i am going to predict that obama bin laden will not be re-elected, things will be worse than before and we will get hit again by muslim extreamists. and he or his office will blame it on bush's administration.

It's been going on for a while now.. By a while I mean a year or more... I have seen ammo prices nearly double in the past 3 years.. The number one reason is an ever increasing commodities market.. Lead brass and copper. Every element used to make a round has gone up. Not to mention powder. The number 2 reason is w have a war going on, one that expends tons of small arms ammunition. Sure most may be of a different caliber than you are using but it's the same raw materials.... And it's not a 1 for 1. Imagine how many .45acp rounds you could load from the powder in 1 tank round..
And lastly Obama has create mass hysteria. He says he doesn't want our guns. Nobody believes him. Judging by his past history IMO there is nothing he want more than our guns and ammo.

Good point, but with those same commodities' value decreasing how is it still justifiable? Are some of these shop owners taking advantage of the Obama scare?

Maybe they are, but wouldn't you? Especially when you consider they might have big restrictions on their business in the future.

I just don't see how he could completely override the 2nd amendment.
The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Constitution) is the part of the United States Bill of Rights (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Bill_of_Rights) that declares "a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
He can't just do away with a 200 year old right in this country!:tsk:
Even if he wants to. He can just charge us more to have them.

Manufactures are quick to raise prices but very slow to lower them.. Look at groceries. The price has skyrocketed in the past year blamed on fuel prices.. Fuel prices are low and the groceries are still high.. They will come down slowly.

Yes he can with the stroke of a pen, it's called executive power. It's been done before with the AWB and in 1986 with the ban on Automatics. He can also legislate the crap out of it until there are so many taxes and red tape that it makes it impossible to buy a gun.
persay. What he WILL be going after is the ammunition for them. It is my understanding that the Demomarxist what ammunition to be bar coded and registered(extra cost) and want to raise the taxes on said ammunition. And with the ammunition having to be registered we will have to fill out the appropriate forms to purchase the ammunition just like when you buy a firearm.
Just another way to handcuff lawabiding citizens.
I want to send all of you who voted to elect the First, well maybe 2nd or 3rd, marxist president in the HISTORY of the United States of(what used to be) America a great big thank you.:nono:

Went to Cabelas today. There was a stack of Remington Game Loads for 74.99 in the middle of the stack was a case marked 49.99. I asked the associate if that was correct? He said "Yes" So I got a case of 20 gauge 7 1/2 for a price I hadn't seen in a year:)

Jackalope, I hope you are correct about the prices coming down. I agree with you wholeheartedly on the 2nd statement also. I would like to think that the right is ours without government interference, but as we have seen that is not the case.
Sam, what Cabela's was it?

Wheeling, ammo is pretty high there. I just lucked into a miss marked case. I gave the associate a chance to correct the mistake, but he didn't seem to care.
