Nice toenails, jack. Is that Ivory?
While a trap is not intended in introducing this thread, I realize it may create some nasty bickering. Just curious.

A slob is a slang term used to describe someone who you are disapproving off. A slob is defined as lazy and obese.
That said a slob hunter is obviously an obese hunter who is lazy and will always look for a short cut. With that said a slob could be defined as someone who attempts to reduce the difficulty of killing a their quarry by using trail cams, compound bows, crossbows, in-line muzzle loaders, rifled/unrifled slug barrels, shotguns, laminated traditional bows, mechanical broadheads, store bought steel fixed bladed broadheads, tree stands, camoflage, scent smokers, scents, google earth, GPS, bait, plants food plots, uses and ATV or game cart, hires and outfitter, scopes, pistols, rifles, leases, owns their own property, carbon and aluminum arrows, store bought wood arrows/arrow shafts, scent lock suits, game calls, blinds, drawlocks, walkers game ears or other listening devices, trail monitores, automantic and non automatic feeders, how to DVD/VHS/Books, the internet and just about ever other gadget out there.
Based off that I think it's safe to say we're all slobs.
I can see this thread with a big ole lock on it lol. Anyway, to me a slob hunter is anyone who consistently cannot follow the rules/laws put forward for the taking of a wild animal, I'm not talking about the occasional slip up but a consistent disregard or feeling you're above the law. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes from time to time but to be considered a slob in my book you don't care what the law says you're going to do it your way.

i agree 100 % ,on what thunder flight said , that would make us all slob hunters in one way or another
but in hunting terms a slobb hunter to me is someone is is constintly trying to out smart the law that odnr has set for us,
for instance some one shoots a small deer , and leaves it lay cause it wasnt big enough
some one who doesnt use a plug in there shotgun
ROAD HUNTERS
people that sling lead at a deer with little care of what is behind the animal or just not caring at all
people who drive deer , knowing there is other hunters that are unkowingly gonna be in the middle of the deer drive, but yet the drive anyway right aroud the other hunters
i could go on and on but ill stop here

Here's one man's definition...

Years ago, I opposed the mandatory requirement of blaze orange for deer hunters. I always thought it was a good idea to wear orange; in fact, I personally wouldn’t dare go in the woods during deer season without the bright color. But I was concerned that by requiring orange, it would legitimize hunters who fired away at anything not orange clad. I was right. Much of the non-hunting public, many law enforcement officials and the judiciary now think that if you get shot while wearing anything other than blaze orange, you somehow had it coming to you.
Recently, a hunter was shot and killed in Greene County. Officials believe that another hunter shot the man, thinking he was a deer.
There are three ironclad rules of hunting. First, identify your target; second, never point a gun at anything you don’t intend to kill; and finally, be aware of what’s behind your target.
Let’s discuss the identification rule.
I’d like to point out that there are subtle differences in the appearance between a man and a deer – no matter what color hat or vest is involved. Men walk upright, not on all fours – that’s a biggie right there. Men usually are not covered in brown fur, they don’t have antlers, they don’t have 8-inch ears, nor big white bucktails. They don’t have hooves, long snouts, white bellies and big, black eyes. Other than that, they are exactly alike.
Do we also need to point out the differences between a man and a turkey? No, that’s even easier.
Even if a deer has been positively identified, there are additional requirements before the shot is taken. Is it a buck or a doe? Generally, that’s important. If it is a legal animal, where do you place your shot? Hunters worth their Winchester slugs will take only a broadside shot, aiming just behind the front shoulder and even then, making sure there is no brush to alter the shot in flight and that the deer is stationary at the time of the shot. There is absolutely no way a hunter can go through all those check list items and still mistake a deer for a man. It is impossible.
By allowing the “shoot it if it isn’t orange” mentality, we give slob hunters an excuse. Slob hunters should be eliminated from the hunting fraternity. Shoot another man, claiming you thought he was a deer or a turkey, and you should be prosecuted for negligence with a firearm and your hunting license should be taken away for life. Period. End of discussion.
Bobby MacCauley, a veteran hunter from Albemarle County, was hunting on private land recently when he saw movement in some nearby brush. He could see four large legs. Bobby thought maybe a bear was approaching, but he knew better that to take a shot because he had not yet identified his target. It turned out to be two men - dressed in camo and likely poachers – who were walking abreast through the thick brush. Bobby knew they didn’t have permission to hunt there and he whistled to alert the approaching hunters of his presence, so they wouldn’t shoot in his direction.
Poachers often wear camouflage clothing instead of blaze orange so as not to be spotted by landowners or game wardens. But they don’t deserved to be gunned down by some trigger-happy slob hunter who shoots first and identifies later. Besides, it might not be a poacher. It might be an innocent hiker, somebody’s pet collie, livestock or who knows what else.
As hunters, we should insist that slob hunters be prosecuted and removed forever from the roles of legitimate hunters. And no mater what color you do or do not see, always identify your target.

I agree with what most have already stated. I will have to add someone who is inconsiderate of other hunters, and hunts in a very sloppy and poor manner without any thought or reasoning.

I think we should start a Wall of Shame here at OS to list all the slobs that we encounter out in the woods and on the water. Guess we would have to get their names first. A picture included would be icing on the cake.
