Not bad for 11 acres? I think I should put in some more time out there next year if we don't kill this deer this weekend...

That would be something special! I am taking my cousin out with me Saturday. This is his first season of hunting and he is really starting to get the itch. If we do not have any luck Saturday, Tracie and I will be out there the next three afternoons. Someone is going to get a crack at this deer this weekend if all goes well.

I gave up on this property after 2005. I mentioned in an early thread that if I had killed half the deer I should have, my trophy wall would be two to three times better. All those missed oppurtunities, came from this 11 acre parcel. I know how to hunt it thanks to 10 years of experience. The best part is that you only need one stand to effectively hunt what we have. I stopped hunting here because of Deuce and the farm. I got side-tracked. I can't wait to spend some time here next year...

I started feeding and running the camera two weeks ago so I could inventory what we had behind the house so I knew if I should fool with the plans I have for that spot this summer or not. I'm gonna go ahead and say that I will follow through with that plan!

It was dark enough to trigger the IR. There is a 15-20 minute time frame every evening down there in the bottom that will happen. I actually like when it happens because I think the detail is better than the color pics taken in that lighting...

I am actually thinking about letting this deer stay safe from our attempts this weekend. I'm sitting here talking with a buddy and I think this deer has temendous potential. Dad killed a 167" gross 10 in 2004 and a buddy's dad killed at 179" 13-point two years ago at the other end of the holler. I think this deer will survive this weekend because pressure will be low and he has all kinds of cover in a swamp about 300 yards from the camera. It is impossible to push or hunt in there.

I will leave it up to my wife. See if she agrees...

I was just giving you a hard time,

if it was me personally i would set her up and sit almost all weekend, dont walk or anything, just to and from the tree, that way your not pressuring him hard, and if he does present a shot, good take it. If not, he will be a GIANT next year.

also, since this deer just showed up, who know's maybe a 200" is lurking where this guy has been hiding.

She wants to hunt it, so the hunt is on. I will hunt it tomorrow with my cousin and he will shoot the first thing he wants and I doubt it will be this guy. If he does come in, he will get his crack. If not, Tracie has three nights to get it done...

The idea of what he could become next year if he stays with me, is really a pleasant thought! Duece jumped 30-40" inches in one year. If this old boy just went 20-30" I would freak :yikes:

Any story from this weekend on this guy yet?

I hunted there Saturday night with my little cousin and he missed two does some how. He was so nervous you can see him shaking on the video when it was all said and done with. He shot over one and she stopped and stared at me while I reloaded. I could see he missed her and as she walked off, I watched the video and you could see him hit about 6" low in the dirt. Another came through about 30 seconds later and he shot high.

Dad hunted back there last night and didn't see anything. Tracie and I will be out there tonight and tomorrow. She is holding out for him and nothing else...
