Well last year I was lucky enough to harvest what many(myself included) consider a buck a life time.

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i93/clarkpba/Deer2007003.jpg

that of course was untill this year. Somehow luck would have it that i'd get a chance at a bigger buck.

The top buck was taken with a bow near mt. sterling, ohio. the second was taken during gun season near Logan. ohio. And i can say both were true luck when it comes to hunting.

The first buck i was hunting private land with a friend of mine. we had hunted the same farm 2 days prior. I only seen one deer at a distance in the morning and nothing that evening. He took a doe and coyote that evening sitting in the location i hunted that morning. Well he was supposed to hunt with another friend on thursday but couldn't get ahold of him so he called me late wensday to see if i wanted to go with him. We got there alittle late and he set up in the same place he got the doe. I continued down the tree line further down. I had never been on this farm so had no idea where i was gonna set up. well I went to the end of the tree line that was on the edge of a standing corn field and went about 20 yrads down the side. found a tree that was just big enough to hold my climber. I was only able to get maybe 10 feet off the ground due to the tree being so small. after being in the stand about a half hour i started to fell very ill. If it wasn't for the fact i would have to go through my friend to get back tot he truck i would have got down. but i decided to just nap in my stand. well about 10 minutes after this i heard rustling in the leaves and the big buck was coming from behind me. he stopped and made a large scrape and continued towards me. at about 15 yards he stopped and looked right at me. did the head bob a few times and just kept coming. I shot him at 8 yards away. I didn't feel sick anymore...lol.

The second one was the final day of gun season. my step-dad and I had hunted a private farm all morning trying to push the deer with no luck. we had only seen 2 sets of tracks in the snow and they were young deer. we decided to head for home. well we had another spot to hunt that was on our way home. He decided we should at least stop. I got in a draw thats on the backside of the property and got on his quad runner and went around the other side of the hill and started driving around. we wasn't there 15 minutes and this buck came off the hill right at me. He was 15 yards when i shot him.

I can say its a heck of lot better being lucky then good...lol.

Isn't there some sort of waiting period before you just jump in and post photos like that? 1 yr....maybe 2? Maybe a little hardship first? Get the feet wet?

Great job, Clark!

What a way to get yourself introduced on this forum:yikes: . Those are awesome bucks. I hope you don't get bored hunting after those monsters. But if your luck continues, you should be able to connect on a 180 class buck next year.
Congrats and welcome;)

Those are absolute tanks, although I hope I misunderstood the part about driving around. Does this mean pushing deer with the use of an atv?

Hey double H yes Norm is my step dad. How is it you know him? And as for stealing his trophy i wouldn't go that far..lol. I think he was happier about it then I was. He did get a little sad after we got it caped out. He was enjoying everyone on 33 waving a guaking at us as we drove home. He said we should have made a couple laps around 270 before we dropped him off.

Of course not. he was going to the top of the hill to find a place to hunt. He fractured his hip earlier this year and if you seen this hill youd understand why he uses it to get up there.

Thats good to hear, and I totally understand using it to get up hills. Once again, those are two absolute bucks of a lifetime. Can't wait to see what happens next year.

I know him through Gary Horn. Wish you guys would have brought him by the shop, I would much rather wrap my hands around that bone than to see it in pictures.

great bucks!
that area has some very good bucks.i use to work at deercreek back in the early 80's and saw alot of very nice bucks in every area of the park.
a few years back a young guy with the last name of Justus took a real nice buck in your area then got put through the ringer by the dnr over allegations that he took it illegally.after all was said and done he was cleared and he got his mount back.
once again,great bucks!
