I am looking for a solution to keeping my feet warm while on stand. I was out this morning and had plenty of layers on and kept warm EXCEPT for my feet which eventually caused me to come back before I really wanted to. I cannot wear multiple layers of socks as there isn't enough room in the boots that I currently have, adding to that the fact that I kind of have a bum left ankle that is very tough to get in and out of my boots the way it is.
I have been digging on line a bit and have came across a miriad of electric socks...some goes as high as $160!!! I have been looking at the heat factory orthodic footbed warmers and may give them a try http://www.heatfactory.com/english/product.php?cat=3&id=47
Does any body have anything else that they use and have goo dluck with?
Thanks for any input..

just go to WalMart and look for the "toe warmer" pads back with the rest of the hunting stuff. they stick to the bottom of your socks with a tape so they don't slide around. cheap and they work!

Probably the best thing you can do is get new boots. Buy them at leat 1 size bigger that normal. If your feet are cramped into tight fitting boots, they will get cold no matter what you do. You need to have some air circulation in order to keep your feet warm. In very cold weather, I wear a pair of pac boots, that are 1 size bigger.

Like Big H said, get a pair of boots 1 size to big. Your feet will release perspiration vapors that you need to get away from your skin. If not your socks will end up damp & then your feet will get cold. Get a very thin pair of socks as your 1st layer. Something that will not absorb those perspiration vapors. You can pick them up at any outdoor store. Next you want a good thick pair of athletic socks. These will absorb the vapors from your feet but will keep the moisture away from your skin. Next wear a good pair of thermal or wool socks. This has always worked for me whether deer hunting or even steelhead fishing in the streams during winter. Once again the key is to keep the moisture vapors your feet release away from your skin. If you hunt out of an aluminum tree stand you may want to put something on the bars where you feet are. Also, before climbing into your tree kick the tree to knock the snow off your boots. I do all of these & my feet seem to stay pretty warm. This AM it was 8 degrees in NE ohio with the wind chill & my feet stayed warm.

Good Boots. 1 size bigger. Also a wider width. Timberland, Rocky and Danner boots are all good.
Good wool socks. 1-2 Pairs based on weather conditions.
Get the Toe Warmers, and also there is a full length foot warmer available too.
Put the full length one on the botttom of your boot, take the toe warmer out of the package, and stick them on the top of your sock above your toes.
You will have heat on the bottom and top for a good 4 hours.
Works every time.....used them out West and Canada in sub zero weather conditions with good results.:D

A big cause of cold feet is the perspiration, to overcome this i use wool socks. Wool will wick the sweat away from your feet and they will be warmer. Wool socks and toe warmers inside of a good boot can't be beat!

I am aware of the perspiration factor....I have experienced that before in my rubber boots...which I find incredibly hard to wear right now due to my ankle. I can assure you that there was no perspiration factor in my feet getting cold yesterday morning. I had a very short walk to my stand and didn't heat up much at all and my socks were perfectly dry when I took my boots off.
I do appreciate all of the info and suggestions that all of you have put out there. I will probably just deal with it for this season and seek out some new boots (a few sizes bigger) and try the two pair of sock with a thin wicking style sock first....and maybe a peel and stick toe warmer for good measure. The way the weather is today...from the way it has been the last few weeks...I could wear FLIP FLOPS to the stand!!! lol :yikes:

I would suggest purchasing new pac boots 2 sizes too big. Get 4 really good pair of socks ( 2 for the hike, 2 for the stand) Get some of those ortho liners and a couple hundred foot warmers. Then buy the Artic Shield booties ( the ones in the thread just seem too cheap at that discount). Put all this crap on your feet when you get in your stand. If your feet get cold then, give up hunting and try and take up and indoor hobby.

I wear light socks, 1000 gram rockies and rocky heated insoles inserts that I got this year $10 and they have been great, but there is a wire that needs to run to each one an the battery pack takes 8c batteries but for warm feet for the long sites its worth it IMO.

Your feet arent getting cold.. Its just all the metal in your body!! Damn dirt bikes...
I too seen those expensive heated socks, and everything ive read on them, they seem to be totally worth it if you cant keep your feet warm no matter what you try.. My feet get cold alot too but ive since switched to poly pro liner socks and a wool sock, and if its real cold I put those sole sized warmers in my boots.. Im in the market for some new boots, not sure if I want Muck boots, or a pair of Alphaburlys with like 12-1500grm thinsulate.. My 400 gram rocky buck trackers work well down to about 35 ish with a nice pair of socks on..

Oh how true is that...a three piece titanium ankle sucks in the cold like nobody else's business!!!!
I have been checking out boots and I think I am going to stay with Rocky or Lacrosse...I need to find some time to get out and check em out first hand to see what fits the best...I am going to go this route first with some sock layering....then if THAT doesn't work...I am going to check out those socks.
For really cold days, these are the way to go.

The key to these is to NOT let your feet get cold in the first place. As soon as you get to your stand, slip them on and throw a couple hand warmers in there.
The BEST way to use these is to where some other shoes or boots while walking in to your stand. When you get there, take off your shoes, throw in a warmer or 2 into the boot blanket and zip up! Your feet will always be warm. Circulation is the key. If your feet and toes can't be free to wiggle around, you'll get cold.
3 plates, 7 screws and only partial feeling in my left foot. My feet HAVE to stay warm.

So you are NOT wearing these over your boots rather wearing them in PLACE of your boots?

I tried the toe warmers during one of those cold days during gun season. I put one on top of my toes between two socks and on the other foot I put one on the bottom of my toes between two socks. The foot with the one on top stayed warmer longer...they work!

You can. Definitely. But to get the best circulation around your toes and feet, no shoes (with hand warmers thrown in) is best. Talk about TOASTIE TOES!!! :D Make sure you are wearing wool socks, too!!
You'll be leaving because your hands are cold...not your feet.
