Shot 7 squirrels this week with my marlin 17v, and it worked great. The only one that got tore up badly was facing me at about 40yds, hit him in the mouth. It blew off his bottom jaw, then removed every rib on the left side. Otherwise 5 head shots, one body shot leaving a tiny hole. I don't think there is a beter squirrel gun out there.

Dumb question here but is the .17v is that a rim fire cartridge or is it a center fire cartridge.Sounds like you had a good outing i also love coming home with 5 to 6 squirrels.

I got three squirrels last evening. with a old Savage #5 22 from the 30's. But today I'll be out with my Tauras "Tracker" in 17 Hmr. I can shoot a real tight group with the CCI "TNT"'s Here I come "TREE RAT'S" Anyone wanting a real good Squirrel revolver, try a "Tracker".
CD 2 , 17. Hmr Hornady mag. rimfire
I have a 17 Remington, also. Its a 20 gr. Hornady bullet shooting 4300 fps out of a Remington 700 Classic. the case is about a 223 necked down to a 17 cal. A real groundhog and crow getter!!!

CatDaddy- It's louder than a .22lr. I'd say about the same as a .22mag, but with a sharper "crack" to it.
