I got home from deer camp on thursday afternoon and decided to hunt my stand here at home for a evening hunt.I hunt in city limits so i had to take the bow,i was in my stand for about 30 min and was ready to get down do to the cold and 20mile winds and noticed 2 does and a yearling in the field feeding,I kept watching them feed and noticed them staring into a thicket.About 5 min later a nice buck stepped out and started chasing the yearling,of course to far for a shot,So i watched them until dark.I got up in the morning hoping to catch him coming back to bed but it didnt happen.I had dinner plans for friday evening so did not get to hunt.Saturday we went back to or deer camp and ended up killing two does that morning.I got back home at noon and decided to go put out some acorns and corn and noticed some big deer tracks that had to be fresh cause it just got done snowing. So i ran home and got my hunting gear on and called the neighbor to walk thru the thicket,he agreed he would. He started on the south side of the thicket and ended up jumping up three does and the buck i seen on thrursday evening, but the deer went else where, so i decided to move to another area that they should come out of and low and behold here they came the buck got within 15 yrds and i grunted him and he stopped and i took the shot,as he bolted away i noticed my arrow sticking out about half way,I thought i must of hit the shoulder blade,so we decided to wait to track him.we went back to search for blood about 45min later and didnt find much blood so when your in doubt back out.I didnt sleep much last night but got up at 7:30 am and started to track him.I didnt have to go far when i seen him bedded down about 30yrds and relized he was still alive.Prepared for the encounter i drew on him and drilled him thru the lungs and he then went only 60yrds and pilled up.My first shot was high above shoulder blade and thru the neck.THIS IS THE BUCK I PASSED ON THE SECOND DAY OF SEASON THAT I TOOK PICS OF.Not realizing how nice of a buck he was!!!!!!!!!!

Using the G5 montec broadheds, the arrow from the first shot was nowhere to be found so i would assume its broke off in the back and neck area.

Ok, I have to admit, I'm not a trophy hunter like a lot of you. But seeing bucks like yours, and others since joining this site, I might have a change of heart. I will still be looking for freezer meat, but I'll be paying more attention to posts about big bucks.

That's a bruiser, and I congradulate you on a fine buck!
