Well I'm looking at buying my first bow and do not have a lot of extra $$ to buy a brand new one. Here's one I found and am looking at getting. Any advice as to whether this is a good beginner bow and a good price would be appreciated.

"My brother has a Parker hunter mag for sale. It is 60 pounds.
Has tru glow sight, quick tune arrow rest, bow case, ect.
A few arrows.
Would like to get around 200 bucks for it.

I have a 70 pounder pretty much same set up. If you want that instead.
Need to keep one of them for my son."

Im no expert but as long as it can be adjusted to your draw length I would think it would be fine. Ive heard good things about pse

i think you can do far better than that deal looking in the archerytalk.com classifieds. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=100 - website is down right now, but should be up again soon. 1000s of bows get moved there and very new and clean equipment for the most part. I've probably bought/sold 10 bows there over the past 5 years and it's all worked out very well, so let me know if you need any help.

that looks fairly dated, the arrows don't seem very well matched (alum and carbon), the grip is very much a unique, high wrist grip that may not be too comfortable.

do you know that it's the right draw length for you? It's VERY important to get one that fits in draw.

AT is the place to find a good deal on a used bow... but go to a good reputable bow shop and shoot some new ones to get a feel for what brand you might want!

I have a brand new PSE Nova I would sell if you are interested. My buddy had it in lay away and quit paying on it, so I paid it off for him. He decided he didn't want it so I kept it. Send me a PM if interested.

I would stay away from this set up, I noticed a Quick Tune arrow rest. It's very old stlye and will eat your vanes. Also, it does not hold arrows very well, they fall off. I lost a deer a few years ago because the arrow was not seated on the rest well, and I did not notice.
I can't say much about the bow,--but make sure the draw length is correct for you. I like the idea of getting one off the web site mentioned above..
Good Luck, and glad your staying away from a cross bow, it's not archery.

I have a PSE Nova and have thus far been happy with it but all I've done is target shoot with it but I plan to take it hunting before this week is done. I'm sure someone will say there better out there but I'm happy with it so far.
