First let me say that my farm is registered with the Division of Wildlife as a "Dog Training Facility" which means we can release birds and shoot them outside of the normal regulations. This means we can shoot quail and hen pheasants all year. We have to keep records of band numbers and there is a procedure to follow if we shoot an unbanded bird.

Anyways we released some birds on Wednesday went back Thursday morning and see if the dog could find them.

I was 2 for 2 on quail

Pheasants not so good 0 for 2 for me  But Andrea shot her first pheasant, a hen.

It looks like you guys had a nice morning and plent of smiles! I like the shooter with the quail, nice wood.

I hit West Branch in the morning for a couple hours and never saw a bird. It was the first time since I started bird hunting with my dogs that I've gone the entire season birdless. It may or may not have something to do with the fact he's 11 1/2. Still had a good morning just the same. I'm going to take my dad's dog out Sunday morning to see if I can find some stragglers.
