First let me say that my farm is registered with the Division of Wildlife as a "Dog Training Facility" which means we can release birds and shoot them outside of the normal regulations. This means we can shoot quail and hen pheasants all year. We have to keep records of band numbers and there is a procedure to follow if we shoot an unbanded bird.
Anyways we released some birds on Wednesday went back Thursday morning and see if the dog could find them.
I was 2 for 2 on quail

Pheasants not so good 0 for 2 for me  But Andrea shot her first pheasant, a hen.
