Well, according to Slippy.....the peak of the rut was in the middle of October....so I don't know what to tell you.

I think if theyre moving itll be later in the morning 9 and up...who knows, this morning I was out and it blew steady around 23 mph and snowed all through the morning so im guessing they were hunkered down somewhere...

Reguardless of when the ruts doing the deer still have to eat! THey are living animals! You hunt food sources and you are gongi to see them! WHen its bitter cold out cornfields are hotspots, or atleast they always have been for me! This time of year I have seen more deer activity near or around bedding areas! THat way you see them at the latest possible light on their way in in the morning and the the earliest possible light when they get up and are moving in the evening!

I've finally learned after this year that I will never hunt in windy conditions again. I was convinced that deer moved during windy days. I have been proven wrong every year since I began hunting. Deer don't move...or move VERY little.

I'm done with windy days.

If you didn't hunt on windy days up here in the northwest part of the state, you wouldn't get to hunt much at all. It has been windy up here for the entire fall, maybe 3 days total that were somewhat calm.

Like my great uncle Bob always says, "the deer can't go in a hole".
You just have to keep after them, regardless of the weather.

Your right about the wind, its hard to get away from it around here, but I would much rather hunt in 10-15 than 25-35...thats what i meant...we always have wind just not that high usually

Pretty much what everyone else has said. I saw about 7 deer saturday morning, moving around on their own, not being pushed. Hunt the food sources or bedding areas.

I agree about the wind. On more than one occasion I have gotten out of my truck and saw the trees swaying back and forth and heard the branches bangin together and got back in and headed for home. I did hunt on an extremely windy day once down at the WNF. Only reason I did that was because it was the last day of a 3 day hunt and I was just being stubborn about it. I hate huntin in high wind and I hate huntin in the rain. The rest is fine.

Saw nothing last night for the 1st time ever at the property....wind was a-whippin !

Really depends on where your huntin IMO. Seems like they will hang out in the deep hollows for food & water when it's windy like it was. I shoulda known that last night instead of hunting one of the highest places on the property. Maybe I'll learn someday. :coco:
