"over" would be wrong, but the peak started on 11/7/07 and it began to fall off yesterday. BUT in NO WAY am I suggesting the bucks still ain't out cruising, that window will be closing by week's end....

The rut is still running strong - hunt closer to doe bedding areas than you typically would. Every doe or doe group I've seen for the last two weeks has had buck or bucks either right with them or nearby. This time of year I will move in closer to doe bedding areas and do my best with not disturbing the area (I slip in very early and often sit all day without leaving the stand).
If you are seeing lots of does without any buck sightings I would think there have been bucks nearby (they don't always follow direct or stay right with the does, but many times are on the next ridge, etc.) OR your buck to doe ratio stinks.
You should be seeing bucks if you are seeing does.

I think AP hit the nail on the head. I can remember sitting in my living room two years ago thinking that "the rut was over" only to see a 150" 10 chasing 3 does in circles around one of my stands. I would suggest spending as much time as you can in the stand up until gun season. It's true that the activity will be limited.....but you can't bag one while you're out christmas shopping.

out, I just wanted to know what everyone thought and what they are still seeing.
I had a basket 6 chasing a doe tonight and she wanted none of it. Two does in the group and a yearling. I didn't see anything large at all near them.
She was walking around with her tail straight out for the longest time. He shows up and down it goes.
I'll be out again tomorrow night.
Thanks for the replies and good luck to all.

Last Year, last Day of gun season I had a 140 class 9 point in the back yard for 2 days locked down with one of the does that has her core area back here.
I have the dated pic too!!!
Since Sunday morning, we have had 1 small 8 point "shacked up" with one of the local does in my back yard. Before the week is over, there will be several other Bucks visiting this Doe core area.
Rut is just coming into it's own....Slippy/slide hasn't been close yet......he only wishes he could be partaking in the rutting activity, and misses it every year.

I haven't been hunting, but I'm out in the field all day trapping. I have been seeing alot of buck activity. I've also been running in to deer during mid-day. Good time to be in the woods guys. I know most of you are on top of things. just thought I would share what I see from a trappers eye!

Far from over. While I didn't see antyhing big yesterday morning I had deer around me almost non-stop from 9:30 till all most 1 PM. had a 4 pt hanging around a doe that kept coming around about every 45 minutes. I also had another small bull buck cruising through.
I hunted northern MI this weekend and the bucks are still cruising does up there so I doubt we're even close down here. I'll be trying to seal the deal down here the next two Sundays still.

in monroe county it seems to have just started. especially once that cold weather set in from sun morning to monday noon i saw 6bucks and no does every buck was just cruising thru trotting by nose straight to the ground. from fri morning thru sat eve. i saw 2 bucks both were just feeding. I was set up close to bedding areas 60-70yds out three different stands. I'm going this weekend and will likely get in the middle of the bedding areas i just have to beat the does there in the morning stay until they leave for the night :mischeif:

I went out this evening. Saw two smaller buck chasing a doe all around and about 45 min later saw three doe go by and a small 8 point was about 75 yards behind just following but not chasing. Does seem like its the smaller young doe that are getting chased hard right now though.
I hunted saturday thru tues nite. Saw some does with this years fawns. Saw a 4 pt and 6pt at one of the feeders. Saw one other samll buck tonight. We saw does every day by themselves walking slowly through the woods. These are normal doe areas. It may be still going on in some places, but not where we hunt. :(

Dido....one of my hunters has seen a booner chasing a doe in the same area for two days now...and the other day when hanging a stand we saw a buck chasing as well....the activity has slacked off a little, but its still going good.

Yes I will agree that the activity should start slowing down soon, but it is CRANKIN here in NW Ohio right now. So far (beginning Sat.) this has been the best week by far. Bucks chasing does like crazy!

Not so sure that things are slowing down at all here in Marion.
Just last night I watched a NICE 8 chasing a group of 3 does, and another even nicer buck across the road wanting REAL BAD to get into the action, but my truck sitting there along side the road stopped him from crossing.
Sitting in stand the night before last, I observed a lot of action, too.
Heading out here shortly for some mid-day action, and then a break before getting back on stand for the rest of the evening.
